Fashion photographer would have been in my top 10 choices if animator wasn't an option for me.

Fashion photographer Sam was my housemate in San Francisco, ~2000-2002, back when we were all trying to survive the DotBomb - the first crash of internet funding. We lived in an old building in SoMa, at 6th and 985 Howard (now available), in the worst neighbourhood (no problems though, besides being downstream of a wailing fire station on a one-way street). It's nice to see his work after so long. I haven't been in touch with my SF and Burning Man folks for about a decade. To see Instagram images I was forced to finally sign up for the first time - so old Facebook friends are now rediscovering me.

it's a shame it's instagram, a facebook company (don't have an acc.). i did fashion photography - the catwalk - once or twice and they turned out good. i used available light and the fastest fixed lens i had. ...but it's not my world.

He's high end and slick. Nice guy, mostly. It's not my world, nor all the pretense that goes with it. I would have liked it for the girls. Though now looking back I know soooo many photographers - most are great and professional - and it's just another job. The glamour is not essential and it's always artificial. I suppose you could say the same about animation, web design, etc.

I don't actually know enough about photography to shoot anything. I know about it, and all about virtual CGI cameras. I figure in an hour I could pick it up again (and if I didn't use it for years I'd forget it all again. Like electronics, music theory, etc.).

I wish I'd bothered to actively get my site backed up in 2010 or so. I had bigger problems. I still have it, but it's not all online, backed up. They did it without asking. Maybe they did for you too?

I respect anonymity, but now they know you're a man. All this time I thought you were just a crotchety old woman. :P

i basically just stopped paying and let the site expire. but i printed and framed some, enough for an exhibition or two.

Mine expired too. I almost did then as well. Obviously I didn't.

Meanwhile I'm sitting on 3 more domains - a year on May 1. I haven't even finished my first draft. I'm realizing how much more there is to actually writing well. Though this story is far more complex and ambitious and includes concepts most folks haven't been exposed to - so that's a huge issue. But the worst part is having this whole thing all complete in my head yet trying to get it out in a rational and compelling order. Plus I'm realizing I have too much for a single screenplay. I just don't have that much focus either. Those domains may remain empty for some time to come but ultimately it will be worth it, even if it hurts right now. I can't tell you how excited I am to get it presentable enough to start asking for feedback, criticisms, and some ideas.

sounds like you are on a roll.

i neglect my artistic ambitions while setting up my hobby farm. but i am almost there, maybe two years if i am lazy which i am :-)
