I know people want to be positive. We have many reasons to be at least partially positive. But like a fairy in Peter Pan sometimes people can only view all aspects of a positive thing as positive.
It is good that free speech is being introduced to a major platform. It's huge for free speech and the return to normalcy for our society.
But that doesn't change the fact that Elon is going to lose money in twitter. Money doesn't care about your emotions. Here's the truth. Twitter's format makes it a good platform for self-promotion, and not a good platform for communication or even entertainment. Twitter's controlled environment is also good for self promotion because there are ground rules for what kind of conversation you can get roped into and what kind of conversations can occur under your content.
Because Twitter will have some degree less utility for that the site will become more proportionally a discussion and entertainment site. But when its discovered that twitter's format doesn't out compete many many many many many smaller sites (like pretty much all of them) at being that kind of site it's going to reduce it's value.
It's sad but true. Twitter sucks not just because it was controlled but because the site generally sucks. Promotion was pretty much the only thing keeping it up.
