WTF is with American peanut butter

Was at the market and wanted peanut butter, every brand on the shelf I read sugar, peanuts, salt, sugar and canola oil or palm oil or some other non peanut oil. So why does Americans need extra crap like sugar and canola oil or palm oil in peanut butter .

Go to a better store. Costco sells like a pint jug of peanut butter with "peanuts, salt" as the only ingredients.

They mix peanut butter with partially hydrogenated oil to prevent separation. I guess it should be called peanut flavored margarine.

Find the ones that are 100% peanuts. Or you can buy peanuts and use your blender to make real peanut butter, too.
