Yeah, in 3.5 months losing 20/160 lbs should be doable with diet and exercise. Seems like a reasonable goal. I don't even think youd need to starve yourself every other day, just eat reasonably healthy food, do 30-60 minutes of exercise daily, and cut the empty beer calories and I think youd be there easy. This is 20 pounds we are talking about, not 100, over a few months, you shouldnt have to do anything drastic if you can be disciplined with a moderate plan. Its just a bit over 1 pound a week. IIRC you are in school, I don't recommend going days without eating, your grades will suffer for sure.

what do you do to work out? how much cardio vs ho much resistance training? Try ice baths/cold showers if your cutting, your body will be forced to use its chemical energy(your fat) to generate thermal energy to maintain its internal temp in a cold environment.

I hit legs and arms three times a week. 30min of cardio after working out. I'm really basic with everything. I do squats and front squats, incline bench and bench. Then, I do overhead press, curls, and lat pulls and call it a day. Sometimes I through in pullups, I'm working up to being able to do sets of 12, I can only do sets of 7 right now.

Do you know how much energy we are actually talking about? I guess it's not as straightforward as the body will do stuff like constrict blood flow and letting extremeties cool out. Also I'm unsure whether it can let core temperature drop temporarily to save energy

a guy who did cold showers for a bit while he was cutting, said his rate of weight loss doubled, to 2 pounds a week during his cold shower period, so hopefully that helps you quantify that.

You certainly can if you go with a keto diet. The first 10-15 lbs go pretty quickly, then it drops to around 5-10 lbs per month. This is assuming you don't go hard core < 20 grams of carbs per day. I'm talking 20-100 grams per day. The only negative side effects to expect would be the initial sugar withdraws which last a few days.
