I wonder how our life would change if the marriage had to be renewed every year at the registry office?

You'd have another day where you'd have to buy the misses a meal and present every year and get cheap aftershave in return.

Lots of marriages go through rough patches. This would likely break many relationships that would otherwise recover and be happy.

Happily the state is only a paperwork tiger and marriage is a spiritual affair the state can't control.

Can't make it to the office when you're blowing other guys. I assume it wouldn't go well.
