The subsaidit "hot" algo is a bit too conservative

If you look on https://www.saidit.net/s/ice_poseidon2/ the hot posts are actually usually 20h to 1 day old. It's very hard for 1-6 hour posts to get on hot page 1 while on Reddit that did happen a lot, I think the sub 12 hour posts should be boosted a bit

Well some of those old posts got 4x the votes you're getting now. Let's see how it settles out. We're open minded to making changes.

I kind of agree with OP. I think we could speed it up a bit maybe with the volume of posts we have. I think it's set at 36 hours, we could change it to 30 or maybe 24

Alright sweet let's do 30 then, that's a 20% change. I still liked it when the recent top-most posts about saidit were there for a day or two

Would it be possible to speed up "Hot" on /s/Ice_Poseidon2 without it effecting the rest of the site? We're used to the speed reddit updates theirs and whats relevant on the sub one day is completely irrelevant the next so the way it is now "Hot" gets filled with old irrelevant posts.
