Nice!

Close to the anniversary day too, I think. Thanks to you and u/d3rr for all the work, we appreciate it!

Ah yeah I guess we are just past the 2 year mark! I found the original launch thread here: https://www.reddit.com/r/magnora7/comments/7744jf/launching_the_new_website_antiextremescom/

Reddit is full of pseudo-intellectual naysayers that just shit on anything they can, the comment thread to that post is annoying to read. It's like whenever you propose a new idea or thought, there's that annoying socially inept nerd that goes "well actually..." i.e "It's not Reddit, so it sucks".

It takes a lot less effort to hate than to build, and most people just do what's easiest

I can't get to it from my phone (says I have to use the app or chrome, won't load in the app), will definitely check it out tomorrow.

Whoa! You've been here for two years???

Yeah, I had subbed to magnora7's subreddit and saw that he was doing this so I joined early on. If I had started to learn to code then I might be helpful here now, probably not though since staying on task is not a strong point for me.

Do you mean the Rugby World Cup? Unfortunately I live in a part of Australia where Aussie Rules footy is the religion so rugby union gets little airplay or attention. The collective depression on Facebook from my NZ friends and family told me all I need to know though ha ha

reddit says you're welcome. Problem though, if only the edgiest content appears, it will never be a real reddit alternative where you find diverse content

      [–]Tom_Bombadil 12 insightful - 3 fun12 insightful - 2 fun13 insightful - 3 fun -  (8 children)

it will never be a real reddit alternative where you find diverse content

Reddit has made a Faustian pact with the corporate-govt. Highly censored diversity is the new norm at Reddit.

The public has woken to the fake news reality, and will be eager to find alternatives when they realize that Reddit is compromised in the same way as the MSM.

      [–]Chipit 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

He means there's no normie content like cat pictures and funny videos. Just "alternative" content, which is off-putting to normies. They need a steady diet of pablum with rich spicy bits of hard truths. All spicy makes them puke the truth back up.

That's really what Saidit needs. Plain old content, like video games and movies.

      [–]MultyKulty 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

dude there is no tech, diy, hobbies and similar content.

It is not all about edgy and "normie" content.

It is not all black and white.

Even responses to his comment are on edgy side.

      [–][deleted] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

i do agree I hope s/cats gets more popular.

      [–]Tom_Bombadil 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

      Someone should create /s/SCATS.

      ;-). JK!

True. Even Voat had cute pictures in with all the nazi/racist shit.

      [–]AntiLowEffortHuman 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

people will. Consumers will not. As pointed out by the other comment, if you only want cat pics and you get a lot of them on Reddit why would you look at the alternative? If you are tired of getting your posts and comments being downvoted and deleted maybe you will search and eventually find this website. But if you're (not you obviously) not a person with independent thoughts but just a content consuming droid, reddit, Instagram and other bullcrap is the way to go. Unfortunate.

      [–]Tom_Bombadil 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Good call. I think that you're assessment is correct.

Consumers may show up if the content is consistently factual. I think they've given up, because they just don't know what to believe...

      [–][deleted] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

original reddit was edgy and based, things have to be like that to be popular and not rely on corporate bots and shills to appear popular

Become dependent on advertising and watch the rug get yanked out from under Saidit as soon as it gets noticed.

I've definitely noticed an increase in numbers, I remember when I first used to post here I got hardly any responses. It was kinda dead, but now the site in general is looking a lot more lively. Whenever I log on I almost always find at least one or two responses from somebody.

        [–]magnora7[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah same. I remember when it got to the point I couldn't read it all anymore... now I can only read a fraction of what is posted, simply because there's so much. Feels like a real community

u/Magnora7 can you publish more statistics such as a list of the most popular subs?

        [–]magnora7[S] 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

No problem, here's the page of the list of most popular subs: https://saidit.net/subs/

        [–]Chipit 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

I mean ranked by activity, that list is by subscriber count. All the numbers are almost the same, which makes me think something is dodgy somewhere.

        [–]magnora7[S] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Up until a week ago, all new users were auto-subscribed to all subs, so that's why the numbers are similar. There's no way to rank subs by activity other than just looking at the subs on 'hot'

Isn't Cloudfire the company that's been at the center of several shut downs of dissident news sites?
