What is IP2?
IP2 describes themselves as a community who just watches livestreamers and creates memes, shitposts and clips about said streamers.
What they really are: They are a spinoff of a community that was created around the streamer "Ice Poseidon", hence the name, because they were banned for a number of reasons. They have had a long history on reddit where they were involved in multiple subreddits that ultimately got banned for harassment related reasons. The streamers they prefer to watch are often those who commit self-harm, violence and crimes on their streams for "content". They further encourage this behavior by donating to them and prop them up as a sort of celebrity as long as they play by their rules.
Why they are bad for this site
1 . Harassment/Deplatforming
They exploit their freedoms of this website to go on harassment campaigns against those they do not agree with. A lot of their members and even mods have an unhealthy obsession with Ice Poseidon in particular and continually try to deplatform him. They will go on campaigns to contact sponsors, people he works with and brigade when possible in attempt to have him removed from any platform he is on.
A few months ago, I asked what the stance of /u/magnora7 has on brigading. His response can be seen here:
Deplatforming someone is essentially silencing them and goes against what Magnora says here. In the examples I show below, it's clear to see that these are malicious in nature and not "just for fun". Their intention is to ruin a person's life or cause as much damage as possible.
Examples of their campaigns:
There are many more examples which can easily be found but these are many recent examples I found.
2 . Racism/Hate speech
These aren't inherently bad since this site promotes free speech. However, this community uses it as a tool to silence others by pretending to be concerned with it offsite but openly racist here. This should be a concern to people who truly advocate for free speech since they are hurting any progress towards that with these tactics.
Examples of hate speech:
3 . Moderators act in bad faith
The moderators of this sub all actively participate in this behavior and encourage it. This could be seen in my section on harassment but I'll add the examples here as well. The community as a whole is against any type of moderation as they feel it censors them and will attack the mods any chance they can. So in turn, the mods will do as little as possible to actually moderate their sub as to avoid conflict with their users.
Examples of mods acting in bad faith:
* Admins have had to step in dozens of times to remove posts encouraging violence and doxxing
4 . They do not respect the core values of the website
According to the content policy, this site's core value is represented by the Pyramid of Debate. Users are expected to move the discussion in an upward direction the pyramid and users who move it downward will be removed.
The majority of their discussions consist of the bottom 3 tiers of the pyramid of debate but there is no effort from mods to remove said posts and encourage this low level behavior. Admins also don't seem to enforce this content policy either for some reason unless it involves threatening violence.
Examples of dragging down discussion:
It's pretty clear this community's only goal is exploit their freedom on this website by harassing, deplatforming and promoting hate. They have no respect for the core values of this site, the admins, or even each other. I do not believe that they should be outright banned from Saidit but at the very least there needs to be a lot more moderation so that they are within content guidelines. I look forward to hearing from /u/magnora7 and /u/d3rr on why they turn a blind eye to all this. If things are left unchecked then this community will only get worse and cause problems for Saidit.
