'Subsaidit' sounds weird; can we find an alternative name?

Why not just use the old name for them and call them forums? Saidit is the site and it is made up of forums for discussion?

There's a case to be made for this but sites like these are also content aggregators

Because forums are a different thing. You don't have a tree-like comment structure on forums; you also don't access a forum via /r/, /s/ path suffix, it's usually more nested.
