I've seen a few posts on SaidIt saying how we can improve this place.

Some people said we should beat Reddit. We should, but beating Reddit isn't the point.

Then other people said that we shouldn't focus on Reddit, but post the truth (whatever that might be). They're right, but we won't grow as much as we could, if we only do that.

What will really fuel people to come here is if they leave here feeling great, having learned something interesting and amazing about a topic they've never heard of, chatted with some people who are doing creative things, and laughed at some great humor they saw.

If we focus only on posting 'truth', then we risk sucking all the joy out of the site. We'll be fighting all the time. We need to remember that life is great, and one of the most attractive things that draws people to join you is if you're enjoying the way you live your life.

Reddit might be a sinkhole of censorship and cancel culture. But there are a lot of people on there making amazing posts. Stuff that makes you feel awe at the world. And that's why people are still on Reddit, and not checking out great new sites. Let's work on changing that!

Yup that's it, reddit seems huge rn but I think it can really happen with enough time, digg also seemed like a giant after all.

Honestly just came from reddit and it's clear saidit is going through it right now with all the bans and anger, also a lot of...lets say interesting characters seem to make up most of the voices but it def has potential. Personally I'm sick of reddit's shit, it's been building up for a while honestly so I came here, gonna try to create content and interact more to help this grow.

One look at the front page (unmuted) and comments reveals it’s clear this site needs all the help it can get. The flip side of the censorship coin is offensive, intolerant, anti-social, paranoid conspiracy ramblings that repel most people. I’ve been told to go back to reddit but all sites appear to be wards of a mental institution.

That was my first impression as well. But thinking back on 4chan there was always a bunch of insane or racist comments you had to scroll through. I think Reddit just made me used to not encounter differing viewpoints or ramblings. It takes some re-adjustment to get back into ignoring the shitposting, but ultimately, I think the benefit of free speech by far outweighs the inconveniences. ...especially considering how little diversity is actually left on Reddit.

Is not all the stupid chatter of most of our newspapers the babble of fools who suffer from the fixed idea of morality, legality, christianity and so forth, and only seem to go about free because the madhouse in which they walk takes in so broad a space?

Where there's free speech there will always be trolls and the mentally insane. Most of them just want attention. Don't let them make you leave, if all the people that have something of value to say leave this site will fail.

    I agree. Also, I feel like it would help the site grow if some of the lighter, popular social media content made it to the front page. for example. Everyone could use an occasional break from the constant stream of blackpills

      I'm not too excited about this. If this place draws a big mass of people, the risk is that it becomes yet another entertainment website and loses the appeal it has currently. It is my hope that more people will be exposed to the underlying reality of the universe through this forum, and that won't happen if that gets overshadowed by entertainment.

      We seem locked into a mindset of false duality - in order for something to be good - the other has to be bad. Look around: Dems vs Reps, Left vs Right - literally a black vs white debate. saiddit is great and doesn’t need to be compared to the “other leading brand”

      I agree. Everyone is so angry at other people right now. But there are few genuinely bad people in society. Most people are trying their best to do the right thing.
