Also, somebody will have to code that into SaidIt's code. As far as I know, that won't be an easy task.

I realize this, which is why I was just throwing this out there and seeing how it stuck and if people felt like it was worth the time.

The one difference between SaidIt and all of the sites you mentioned are the Pyramid of Debate; I really feel especially as SaidIt grows, it’s a good idea to incentivize new users into wanting to learn about the PoD and following it properly; as of right now, they have no real reason to. That’s why a lot of them try to bring and enforce their ideals over here, only to get shut down, then cry and leave. But if we could add some metaphorical or literal badge (which I think if we added literal badges, would be two birds, one stone), we give them incentive in wanting to assimilate. Right now their only incentives are the users who don’t put up with it, and “we have a nice home, don’t set it on fire”.

I actually do like the culture here, the atmosphere and the Pyramid of Debate and it’s concept; it’s really simple, at its most basic it just asks for the same level of respect you’d expect to receive when engaging in serious dialogue. But at the same time, we can still joke, shit post or have fun and get it. It’s just all about not diminishing the quality of serious content or dialogue, and a large part of the internet has a problem with not falling back to childish retorts when they feel they’re “losing” in defending their side of the conversation (which makes something as simple as the pyramid of debate go unfollowed by new users).

I know aesthetic-based projects are most definitely not the most important task, but it would be nice if there was something that worked as, or was an incentive for assimilation of SaidIt’s culture under the “guise” of fun. That still could be fun and appreciated by all users. When new users hypothetically see they can earn some type of virtual reward for participation on SaidIt for their accounts (and the page which leads to more information on that has & explains the PoD), I’m sure they’d be much more likely to click on that and actually read & learn about it, rather than clicking on & reading a hyperlink that says “The Pyramid of Debate”, “Rules”, “Terms of Service”, etc, when they just got banned from reddit and don’t care about those things, “they’re migrating”, you know?

Edit: also, unlike the other sites where the achievements/rewards/badges are created by the site itself, having the “badges” be low-res pixel designs, some created and voted for by the community, really helps give them meaning as well as could potentially strengthen SaidIt’s sense of community too.

If a subsaidit chooses to cater to insecure persons who need digital "rewards" to feel better about themselves, whatever. But site wide? I hope not!!! I've seen my country devolve to cater to (and in effect, promote everyone devolving to) lowest common denominator, thanks, and I hate it! True self esteem is within and isn't dependent on useless awards, IMO. I wish to read ideas and opinions from REAL people, not from the squishy brains of the lazy and weak minded. Edit: wording
