It seems your main complaint is that we don't advertise enough.

Then help us spread the word! You don't have to be an admin to do that.

Changing management isn't going to suddenly create more advertising buzz... if anything the opposite, because I've been promoting this site endlessly, for free, for years now. You won't get a better deal than that. This site operates on $102/mo, all of which goes to server costs, so any growth has to come from word of mouth, from users like you.

Also saidit grew a lot today, we had 1280 comments in the last 24 hours, which is a higher number than I've seen in a long while.

This is a great website. These are trannies in disguise, trying to take over saidit.

Not the Thai t girls. These are the American non passing that take bigger shits than me.

You are great, keep up the good work.

I do think if the owner tried a bit more the website would grow way more than me a single user trying his best to get others here.

Out of all the migrations, we only got a single sub. That's a BIG defeat.

That's the whole point of the post. To make the owner realize we just lost our biggest growth opportunity.

[–]AXXA 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Thank you. I feel your zeal. I think you might be making the same kind of assumptions that I did.

Try to look at the positives instead of the negatives. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

Have you read Foundation by Isaac Asimov? The scientist Seldon forms a thousand year plan to lift civilization out of the dark ages.

A sorry I don't really read books. I was born in generation tiktok so I can't read a page of a book for more than 20 seconds without getting bored.

If you liked me a youtube video discussing this I would watch it though.

A generation that doesn't read books lends support to my point. Here's a short Youtube summary of the book.

I mean. I still gather knowledge, just not from books. The internet is big place and getting my knowledge from places other than books still is very good even compared to someone that gets his knowledge from outdated books.

I'll watch your videos, thanks.

[–]AXXA 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I didn't mean it as a slight. Books never allowed us to instantly share knowledge across the Earth. Everything is a tradeoff. There's pluses and minuses to every technology. Being outdated isn't necessarily a negative either. Have you read 1984 by George Orwell?

Why don't you consider creating an advisory team of trusted saiditors that you allow to make some decisions when you are away from saidit or not engaged? It just seems like you don't have the enthusiasm needed to grow this site. This site is similar enough to reddit that hundreds of refugee subs should have taken up shop here during the black out. Yet they didn't. That's because it seems like the people that run saidit don't seem excited about growing it into a true reddit alternative. Unless there's some major change to the leadership here and people care about growing the site I'm gone as soon as I find a reasonable alternative.

Also if you want to make me a co owner of the site (or you just want to give me the entire site) I will pay the 102 dollars every month. After you give me the site I will create an advisory board with you on it.

The owner trusts certain people enough to the point of making them admins.

[–]jet199 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

[–]NutterButterFlutter 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Your account has to be 2 weeks old before you can create a sub. Once your account is old enough, the option will be on the upper right of pages, underneath "submit a new link" and "submit a new text post".

I understand your concern, but this is the reason why: https://saidit.net/s/whatever/comments/ay50/reddit_blackout_welcome_thread/12iw0

They instead often see something worse. We have it this way to help put our best foot forward.

    [–]AXXA 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (4 children)

You can make /all your default front page in your preferences.

    [–]AXXA 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

/u/magnora7 this has probably been discussed before, but what are your thoughts about making the default home page preference for future new accounts be "all" instead of "subscribed"? I can see arguments either way, but overall "all" seems to fit better with the unfiltered nature of Saidit. I think it would lead to increased engagement and growth of Saidit. Then if people want to filter by subscribed, they can still go change their preference.

    [–]magnora7 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Thanks for the inquiry, I discussed why we can't do that here: https://saidit.net/s/whatever/comments/ay50/reddit_blackout_welcome_thread/12iw0

Thanks for the answer. I remember the discussion now. That makes sense to start new users on subscribed until they learn more about Saidit.

Now may be an auspicious time to make another post that explains how to change their preference and why they may or may not want to. It would be good to include instructions on how to block individuals and mute subs along with it, so that "all" can still be filtered according to their wishes.

    [–]magnora7 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Glad to hear it, no problem. I think there is a guide already written for these features floating around that some people post from time to time

I mean yeah, but there are things only the owner can do. Such as increasing acessibility for instance.

It seems your main complaint is that we don't advertise enough.

Nah. I mean we could advertise more. But my complaints was the website not having quality of life updates for a while and we not being a good pick compared to other alternatives (possibly because of no sophisticated API tools like reddit).

Altough some of it is to do with mods being brainwashed leftoids that ban anyone with a opposing viewpoint. So they like going to a reddit alternative that has that.

    [–]magnora7 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Most other alternatives that put in "quality of life" additions are simply adding features that we already have and have had for years. What sort of quality of life things specifically do you want that you don't have?

    [–]bucetao6969[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I have some, but these only apply to me. Since you're the owner (I found out yesterday, you replied to this thread but I thought you were just an admin lol) it would be a good idea to also make a thread on /s/Saidit or /s/AskSaidit as the owner asking which features the community would like.

Asking the popular communities and the newly arrived /s/Wayofthebern is a great idea as well, WOTB would have specific requests related to reddit migrations too.

I always believe a website can be improved, and if you can't think of new features at least optimizing the ones existing or website performance is a good use of manpower as well. Anyway, here's the features that I personally thought of:

    • Ability to tag users. At this moment you can only tag with "friends", but having specific tags that they can be seen with the first letter of the tag (such as F which stands for friend) allows me to discern users based on my criteria. It's weird putting someone as "friend" when I believe they're important but wouldn't call them a "friend" in real life. I actually got banned on a sub because I added someone as a friend and told me and they believe I called them a real life friend lol. Also, a tag for the owner which would be yourself. Most people didn't know you were the owner, including me

    • Draft posts and comments. Slide app (for reddit) has that feature it's good to check it for inspiration

    • "Show karma breakdown by sub" being a privacy feature that I can enable for others to see mine if I so choose, disabled by default.

    • More acessibility tools. Integrate on the website itself the tools that blind people use to use reddit that certain apps made, it would be a good idea to talk to these app developers and ask them for assistance.

    • Allow subs to determine if a user can set their own thumbnail on a post

    • Have a limit of 5 posts at a time on /s/all from a specific community. /s/Wayofthebern basically has /s/all entirely for themselves and while this temporary because of the migration, this mechanism even existing that an entire community can take all is not preferable. So only having 5 posts at a time from a certain community (only keeping the currently top posts from the community determined by the saidit algorithm) is a good approach.

    • Disallow sticked posts from reaching all. This was a safety feature from reddit because /r/The_Donald kept abusing it and I aggre with the concept

    • Saying something like /s/Saidit links to a saidit sub. I would like that doing the same for /r/ something like /r/Reddit links to the correspondent reddit sub.

    • Something like the steam points system or the reddit awards. Something that would allow users to get more engagement. Like if you paid $8 a month like twitter blue and got a certain amount of awards you can give to users, and they would get points from these awards they could use. This could make the site more fun and help pay the bills (which can become a problem once the website gets big).

    • This is a big and very complex one and probably will use a lot of resources on saidit's servers and might even need to upgrade them (that's why the suggestion above this one would be helpful), but could help the site growth in the longrun. Basically a tool that allow to archive entire reddit communities on saidit. These communities would function differently than a saidit community, better even use /r/ (for reddit) or /ra/ (for reddit archive) instead of /s/. Basically save the comments, posts, upvotes, and deleted comments of this community. Users can't interact with it but could see it. Like a internet way back machine but solely for reddit. I'm not sure how it would work with copyrighted content though.

    • Finally, a downvote button. But make it different to reddit and only apply to new posts after this change as well. I understand your approach to the vote system on saidit but I still believe it's important for users to show a way to "disaggre" with a post. I dislike reddit's implementation too so here's how I would make one: Keep the "enlightening" button that awards a post 2 points and the "funny" button that awards 1 point, but add a "thumbs down" button that awards 0 points. It still doesn't allow a sub to brigade another and keeps trolls from messing posts but allows users of a sub to have a way to say they disaggre with a post instead of relying on the "ratio" mechanism. I think this would be a good approach to this.

    excellent point

I'd argue that the Digg migration killed Reddit's potential to be a website for normal people. Overnight it went from IT professionals in their early 20s to 1000s of children aged 11-15. Decent discussions were rare at that point.

    [–]BobOki 7 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

This . Reddit only got big because of what Digg did, which is what Reddit is doing right now. Reddit popped up as an alternative, and everyone just moved over. It was that simple. And as soon as another reddit style website comes along that is far left and shuts down anything not far left, they will jump ship. There is no loyalty, and Reddit does not deserve any tbh. All the crazies on the right went to stuff like voat.

What is left is a HUGE population just looking for a non-extreme more moderate site that protects free speech and tightly moderates based on a separate method... and saidits using pyramid of debate sounds pretty lovely. It allows the site to have talks of any kind, while being able to fairly police it to keep it civil. I have seen some pretty far right people, as well as pretty far left people coming from reddit, as well as psyops from reddit trying to look like far far right racists.. or at least what their deluded minds were told alt-right acts like... but overall people are been pretty damn moderate with their sway to left and right, decently polite, engaging, and willing to talk. I, so far, am really liking it. It is a little too slow still, but with more people that are not extremists, I think this could really fit me.

    [–]bucetao6969[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

    That was early internet.

Even with the reddit blackout which I argue was actually worse than what happened to digg there are still a ton of people using that website.

A ton of people moved to Lemmy but they also hate that place. Are we doomed to never have a true reddit successor?

    [–]LarrySwinger2 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

In the past he made decisions that most involved users disagreed with. You know how it is on the internet, there are many disagreeable people, and he would ban or drive away some of them (such as /u/bobbobbybob) basically for being too antagonistic i.e. for their tone. Musky, who we all love, got banned for 'teetering on the edge' regarding pornographic content, as if he was looking for loopholes in the rules. In reality it's just his character and he's our friend. We're lucky he felt comfortable posting under an alt name, but others will actually leave. And then there are users of whom not everyone exactly knows why they got banned, such as /u/diogenesjunior. Actually, it looks like he deleted his account, but I remember a ban being involved (same with /u/bobbobbybob). It was way too meddlesome an approach for a small community which disrupted friendships we were forming. It's almost comparable to communist-style disappearances.

We pressured m7 to take a different approach and he took a step back from the website entirely in the aftermath, which made it acceptable, but your point stands: there's no growth this way.

I would just want more QoL features tbh. I don't think this could piss others off.

But I do understand now. I think m7 talking to reddit communities to bring them over would technically be the interference you guys didn't want.

As much as some people protest, Saidit should probably not be like Reddit. It is what it is, and I'm one of those who kinda likes it the way it is.

I get that many people loved other sites, I myself have a background more from IRC channels, niche forums and Ruqqus, so am pleased to be detached from the commie derangement syndrome echo chamber that Reddit has become.

And if Saidit grows bigger, then it'll probably be best to be from natural growth over time or due to normal trends than forcing it to at the whim of an eager few.

    Integrate before you innovate 🤌

I agree on this. To me, Saidit is kind of like spoiling your ballot or voting for a third party during elections. There's a low possibility you're going to create any societal change by your actions, but it's a principled move and you're going to be able to sleep better by having done it.

I’d rather have slow, quality growth than fast growing cancer. I think it’s why Reddit sucks now — they got so big so fast that most users are basically idiots, and the most active subs are the porn and political subs.

Most "free speech" sites have already been taken over by "concerned members".

Ruqqus was pretty good and was better at most until it's team started forcing crap.

    Leave saidit be.

If you're so concerned about its growth, then go rejoin reddit or several other alternatives.

Nothing wrong with growing it. Just there IS something wrong with people who want to make changes under the guise of growth in order to takeover the site.

Maybe, some are even well-intentioned, but looking at other "free speech" sites, crap like this is how they got subverted.

I get that. I don't think I've seen him do something bannable though. Just edgelord shit. May be jarring if you're coming from a more censorious place. Saidit is 'built different'

    Rules from the Saidit wiki:

    https://saidit.net/s/SaidIt/comments/j1/the_saiditnet_terms_and_content_policy/

    What's Not Allowed

Vending of illegal items and research chemicals are not allowed. Nor is discussion of vendors regarding illegal items, links to vendors buying/selling illegal items, or links to pages with links of vendors of illegal items. Subs and users caught buying or selling illegal items, or discussing such, will be removed.

No pornography. Not because we are against it, per se, but it's more about the legal troubles associated with housing this type of content. It's better for the longevity and quality and legal safety of the site not to have it here. There's plenty of porn on reddit and voat and around the rest of the internet, so go there instead if you're interested in that type of content. Also no sexualization of children.

Do not upvote yourself (or others) using alternate username accounts. This is considered astroturfing and will result in a ban. As a guideline, please limit yourself to 8 posts max a day and 3 crossposts max of the same link.

No doxxing people. This means you cannot publish someone's address, phone number, or name, against their will. Especially if this information is private and is not meant to be publicly known.

Yep, most of the gender critical crowd didn't stay because they didn't want to be on the same platform as nazis.

Frankly, this is part of that whole guilt by association thing that the woke use and rad fems still buy into if it works in their favour. And this is why they can't win against the troons, they can't accept that it's not just that one movement which is bad but they whole grievance way of thinking.

I've been on a site where people are far more obsessed with Jews than in saidit. Where people would shoehorn debates about Isreal into any comment section, even the cooking articles (and that's not a joke) and when Joan Rivers died there was nothing but escalating hate. That was the Guardian website.

Here's the thing, you're trying to attract reddit users but most of them want a safe space echo chamber to validate their views and ban anyone who disagrees. Saidit on the other hand has rules to prevent that. That's what drives them away and I'm OK with that.

Look at lemmy. Not even two weeks have passed since this shitshow began and they're already fragmenting the community with beehaw's admin defederating the biggest instance lemmy.world and also sh.itjust.works. This idiot has been a user for a week and he's already asking for sh.itjust.works to defederate exploding-heads.com because he doesn't like their views. I've seen users buried with downvotes for expressing their views just like in reddit.

I'm fine with growing the community, but I don't want to give up free speech to achieve it.

As someone who has been an internet nomad for years now, I can tell you I'd much rather participate in a few small niche communities I enjoy like saidit than a larger one. Not saying we shouldn't try to grow, but keep in mind what you're asking: if you like saidit and the saidit community in its current state, a large influx of new users would likely erase or at least drastically alter the community's identity, as well as raising other issues like hosting and site rule considerations. You may quickly find yourself outnumbered by people who want the community to take a different path than you.

      [–]bucetao6969[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah. I heard of the effect of woketoids invading a platform and trying to change it.

But Twitter showed it was possible to have a BIG platform without woketoids taking control.

Also, the foundational admin userbase of saidit was made to be in contrast to reddit, which is the non-free-speech website I dislike. We all saw what reddit became when it sold off and started catering to investors. I would at least assume the admins and owner saw that and will make sure saidit doesn't make the same mistake (unless they're greedy...)

I don't know what rule Jason broke specifically, I haven't been active much lately. But he will never get banned from saidit because he's too iconic. You said in another thread that saidit is a pretty tight knit community with its own dramas, stories and characters. Well, your comment is quite true! Saidit.net is home of the world's strongest, and personally I don't think saidit would be the same without Jason and the gang. On some level I think the admins know this too (and rightfully so) but maybe I'm just reaching.

Some of the popular users are against saidit growing and prefer it stay underground.

I think they may be right. Initially, the idea of growing saidit sounded good to me because it would increase the likelihood of meeting like-minded Australians who are also sick and tired of this clown world and the troons that inhabit it.

But part of saidit's charm is the fact that it is tight knit like you said. If saidit had millions of users then I wouldn't get a dopamine hit from recognising the regulars because it would be harder to remember everyone. But maybe that's a nerdy as fuck reason and I shouldn't be attached to people I will never meet IRL. Regardless of my nerdy ass reasons, ultimately it's up to the admins to decide what they want. They shouldn't stunt the growth of saidit cause all the cool and popular kids said no. Damn! I wish I was a cool kid...

Fact of the matter is, as much as some people love to complain that saidit is "muh dead forum", I think the reason why saidit is dead is because there simply isn't enough people like "us" in this world if that makes any sense. We're all outnumbered by NPCs and saidit is just one of the few good places left. So maybe I'm not against growing saidit per se, but it's just that there ain't that many people left to recruit. We're literally the last line of defence against clown world as gay as that sounds, but it's true.

But so far I'm pretty content with the state of saidit right now. I'll happily shitpost with the same 20 people forever, although I can see why people would get bored of that very quickly and would want new faces. I've told a couple of IRL friends about saidit and they thought it was interesting. But not interesting enough for them to make an account and participate I guess. So for growth maybe that's another idea too, just telling people IRL about it.

I'd never let Jason be in charge of anything, but he's right. Saidit is a dead man walking if m7 is essentially going to be an absentee owner, and only check in once in a while to enforce silly petty shit that nobody cares about when he gets butthurt by someone. I mean its also a rule that nobody post more than 8 times per day, but a few users that do have pretty much kept this site going at times of low activity.

Ok I'm not saying to make Jason owner but come on, there's already an admin staff and I haven't heard many bad things from them so if the Owner chose any of those to be the new owner (at least someone that wanted to bring change) we could have a better website

I'm not saying radical progressivism. I'm saying 0 progressivism is bad, which is what's happening with the website. It's like it's stuck in the past which is just as bad as well.

The take of the admins is that they would prefer no progressivism rather than radical progressivism, but even some progressivism is necessary.

You can easily run your own version of Saidit however you want to run it. The code is all available and free to use. It has been Dockerized so it's easy to get running. The only cost to you would be for a hosting provider, which is only around $100 a month.

      [–]awdrifter 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

Musk hired some WEF bitch to be the Twitter CEO. He's after the Twitter database for AI training, he's not interested in free speech or anything like that.

      https://www.forbes.com/sites/roberthart/2023/05/12/what-to-know-about-linda-yaccarino-musks-pick-for-twitter-ceo/

According to her LinkedIn profile, Yaccarino is also involved with the World Economic Forum, WEF, where she chairs the organization’s taskforce on the future of work and sits on the media, entertainment and culture industry governors steering committee.

The agenda-setting convener of industry, political and civic leaders, perhaps best known for its annual gathering in Davos, Switzerland, has long been a lightning rod for baseless conspiracy theories and Yaccarino’s connection appears to irk some of Musk’s right-leaning or anarchist base, who suggest her background undermines the platform’s commitment to free speech championed under current leadership.

Nah, he doesn't care if Twitter censors. Just look at her background and you'll already see that she'll censor anything against their narrative. With the move that Musk make Twitter part of X Corp, he's probably doing something with the data. Maybe X Corp will have it's on AI research dept (we wouldn't know since it's private) so they can use that data to train AI.

That's fine, what you post on twitter is public and not copyrighted. If that's how he pays the bill to twitter so the site can function in fine with it.

I have a uniquely long perspective of Reddit, which I'll share.

As one of those who migrated to Reddit from Digg during the great Digg migration specifically, circa around 2012/2013, I'd do think that was when they grew from a tiny forum, even smaller than Saidit is now, but very similar, to the quickly growing artificial reality of a control and brainwashing cage it is now (in line with most of current society's media and every access to communication and information).

Reddit essentially began during this Digg exodus. During that time, r/Conspiracy was the main news subreddit. I created one of the first couple state focused subreddits, a form of r/Illinois before r/Illinois or other state subs existed. I created this and abandoned it shortly after, based primary on my history with Yahoo Chat, which had regional char rooms such as Illinois:1 ....2, 3, 4. This quickly exploded to a large and successful regional subreddit for each state...which was eventually corrupted into just like the rest of Reddit. These local regional forums grew to have large user bases with high interaction rates, that became ultra valuable demographics for targeted political and social manipulation campaigns.

As one of the people who watched it's rise, then fall, Reddit's end really came to fruition in 2016. I'd argue that Reddit downward spiral of death clearly and undeniably started in 2015, precisely when they partnered with CTR Correct The Record, the Hillary Campaign focused social media manipulation juggernaut spending hundreds of millions on coordinated troll farms of sock puppet counts and coordinated groups taking control of public internet forums. While court proceeding later confirmed this, it didn't mention Reddit, as it was a smaller player at the time and they had invested much more in manipulating other larger platforms, which were detailed in the court proceedings.

The transformation of Reddit was extreme. They gutted all the moderators of large subreddits and replaced them with different moderators all at once. Some moderators were kept, but they were either expressly injected with higher ranking moderators or a mass of brand new moderators who would coordinate to ensure legacy moderators were forced into a lame-duck position and greifed until banned or abandoning their position and thus control.

This came with a wave of attack groups, who exploited Reddit's major vulnerabilities to control and exploit it. The most widely used exploit was the extreme vulnerabilities in the platform's design and governance, which made a few common run-of-the-mill forum attack techniques god-like OP. These were common techniques, even upset people seemed to naturally devolve to doing without consciously realizing it. They were used in a widespread manor, by individuals, small groups, and many to manipulate Reddit.Yet when millions of dollars in coordinated efforts made professional abuse of them, Reddit was brought to it's knees and never was the same.

Most of these techniques are at some level a direct or indirect abuse of the The Pyramid of Debate, who's endeared support is largely my attraction to Saidit, despite having Reddit's fundamental platform structure, while largely having more faith in emerging decentralized platforms I just haven't been able to stick with.

I could list a couple of these specific techniques I feel exploited Reddit thoroughly, but they are difficult and time consuming to properly describe or give examples. Many of them are very generic, common, and likely just forms of ones used to subvert and control all of society at their root. So before I try to describe the most impactful of those, but it will be disappointingly brief.

I have very fond memories of the good old days of Reddit (pre-mid-2015). After being permanently banned from most subreddits I had spent a decade contributing to during Reddit's Trump political and Covid censorship and public manipulation campaign, then having my account mysteriously suspended and its every comment and post apparently manually combed through by Reddit admin (not mods), selectively removing content for what can only be petty political motivations I was pretty upset. Yet, honestly, albeit not usually that extreme, I was used to this sort of abuse from Reddit. Like a battered woman, who keeps going back, I was callous to it. Yet, this time was extreme and must different. They went way too far and banned my account's 'self' feed, banning my posts to myself and in one swath with no reason, banned all the community subreddits I had made. They refused to explain, review, or respond in any ways through their multiple, completely useless grievance systems. They are all just for looks and not existent, with the policy of simply never respond. These were non-controversial subreddits, with non-controversial content, which I had spent a lot of effort for months and months to build, nurture, and attempt to attract users forming communities; all erased in a blink without a word.

After the Twitter Files, it seems most likely to have been just more of the US state sponsored subversion of the public of the time, through "public private partnerships," which equated to the US government blackmailing companies with threats of destruction through regulatory action and their influence to publicly destroy with negative publicity campaigns. An extreme all-of-government effort, with intimidation and abuse of authority, built an army of forced-conscript private corporation, who controlled all of the nation's communication, news, and information flows. They used this army to manipulate the election and push the public to take mysterious injections, which we still don't know what they were; just that we were heavily lied to and many, like myself, were largely crippled since the day it was taken. I am still left to wonder each day if I will make it to the next year. Mine is a series of mystery problems gradually ramping to emergency from the day I took my first Moderna shot, which many $10k's on top of high tier medical insurances, couldn't determine, aside from newly identifying a immune disease an assurance that this doesn't explain the confirmed problems. I simply enriched surgeons through expensive tests, with nothing to show for it.

It's not even about the passive site owner. Reddit has a simple and straightforward site interface and a mobile app. After all, I didn't sign up to save the Apollo developer's business, I wanted a time-killer with a consulting function for the issues I was interested in. Lemmy...an old-timer on fediverse told me today that you have to have multiple accounts to be comfortable using Lemmy. Somewhere he's right because Lemmy is wildly infuriating after using reddit. Apparently everyone likes having random instances and comments show up in their feed, but not what you signed up for. Everyone likes that after the mass migration...I'm tired of retelling the same thing a thousand times. Saidit is still more or less. The interface is old Reddit style, some window with someone's chat in some community. It's cool and maybe in a year I'll like it all, but now it's incomprehensible and annoying. Also annoying is the silence. Not a lot of people in the reddit alternatives.

Pretty much no subs here use chat. The only places it's semi-active is on the Subscribed page and the All page, and it's just a few die-hards who like chatting about whatever using it anyway.

saidit has a reputation for censorship, that's why no one came here while reddit has been sperging out. I do go to a lot of sites perodically of course but not many do most just choose one big site.

That's mistaken. Moderators have rules against them acting with bias. Basically only illegal material can be removed, such as advocating violence.

      What AXXA said

I like twitter but we need a Ellon's reddit, if you get what I'm saying

      Also "censorship" and "saidit"? What?

It was, until Ellon took over.

Now if they spow outright misinformation they get fact checked from twitter.

major reddit alternatives are twitter, discord, gab, and 9gag afaik. saidit is like a medium sized discord server i guess.

yeah but none of those are community oriented, hard to call them community oriented. Only discord I guess.

          And 9gag is 9gag 😂

Also are people still using gab? What's the point when twitter is under Ellon now.

The minimalist approach of infinite craft is a refreshing departure from the cluttered crafting games out there
