It's part of the DDOS protection. Without it, the site goes down because of the attack. When the DDOS attack is over, we will turn the 5-second interstitial page off.

Since this uses Cloudflare (I presume), I guess that means Tor browsing will work through the browser if one completes the captcha?

If your exit node ip is constantly changing, then i think you'd get constant captchas and never really get anywhere. Or maybe CloudFlare just checks a cookie and you do it once and you're good to go. Anyway this mode is off and hopefully it can stay that way,

I guess so, I'm not familiar with exactly how Tor works though.
