His post and comments in /r/conspiracy/:
Voat is coming back.
Hi, this is Atko from what used to be Voat. I decided to create a whole new community from scratch (now under a new name: FlingUp). Ever since Voat was dissolved, I felt like I owed it to the regular users. They poured so much time and effort and donations into keeping Voat afloat. I have been working on it ever since Voat was shut down, but since this is currently a one-man show, it is lacking many features and may have a lot of bugs. I'm hoping to see a few familiar faces. So, if you were a Voat user back then, please stop by and reserve your username. No e-mail address required. Also, for /r/conspiracy users, I'll stick around and try to answer any questions you may have about anything you think I may have the answer to.
[Q: So if i am reading you correct, 'flingup' is going to pick up where Voat left off. Correct?
And if so will it be a free speech zone?]
That's correct. As long as the content that the users post is legal in the U.S. and it is not spam, the content will stay up. The platform is solely a tool, and it can be used for both good and bad. The global media is currently controlled by a handful of people/entities, so I see it as an obligation to help and provide a tool for the average Joe and Jane to use and have their say.
It's so cool that I decided to check /r/conspiracy/new and stumbled upon this, would miss this post as it is not upvoted much.
First Whoaverse, after that Voat, then 20things and now finally FlingUp
I personally had an account on Whoaverse/Voat in 2014-2017, Atko was super chill as admin, so this could be a well governed alternative.
P.S. While checking out his profile I discovered this conversation with /u/d3rr about Voat 8 months ago:
