I was there all night.
Someone said there were 30 vehicles (of all shapes and sizes) that pulled in just before dawn. There were around a few dozen folks on the resistance side including the media who seemed to know something was up at dawn. The hundred(s?) of officers lined up before the light was full, very intimidating, and their scary vehicles repositioned.
The line of officers behind the barricade moved in front of it by a few feet. I asked to get my shopping cart with my personal backpack of stuff, several blankets, a sign, and a few hundred Druthers, but they said it was too late. I don't know if they stole it or I can get it returned. I believe it was around 7:30 am ish, at our lowest numbers, for the cameras in good light.
I'd gotten 4 hours sleep passed out on the floor of Sammi who was among the 4 or 5 guys who voluntarily got arrested. 1 guy allegedly challenged them, ran, and when I turned around at the crowd noise I saw him on the ground being swarmed giving up his hands, wrists together, laying on the ground, "I'm not resisting!" They were very slow, methodical, fair to give folks a chance to amble/slowly walk away. Andrew, Whotan(sp?), another, and I were the last to walk all the way back to Tecumseh where we discussed things with the 3rd trucker blockade position (after the 1st College / Huron Church intersection and 2nd Wyandotte / Sunset intersection, both entrances to the bridge). The couple of RCMP officers (woman + man) joined us with their generic warning I'd heard from the same couple two evenings before at the second position, then the morning before on a snow bank hill. They threatened to charge us with "mischief". I asked how they define "mischief" and they hummed and hawed saying something like "lawful enjoyment of property", if I recall correctly. I focused on "lawful enjoyment" and wondered why it was not "unlawful" thus illegal - but they would not repeat nor clarify and she pulled him away as they repeated the initial threat rather than explain properly. I did not comprehend their meanings.
The 3rd position was voluntarily evacuated and that position was emptied, and eventually the line of shoulder to shoulder police officers who marched down Huron Church Road from McDonald's to the Food Basics intersection (a kilometer or so?). They took that entire intersection at about 9am when Andrew and I then left for home. I was soooooooooo tired that I took a 1.5 hour nap before starting typing this at about 11:00am, now 11:22am.
Edit 1 - Addition:
AM/PM Towing brought two flatbeds escorted by yet many more cop cars to tow the two (or thee?) remaining pickup trucks parked between College and Giradot. It would not be a shame if their business folded for them selling out.
Photos coming shortly. Revision edits for clarity potentially pending.
