Will Trump use that power (or some equivalent, he has other means)? Of course. He has a duty to defend the Constitution and preserve the Union. He has sworn an oath to that effect, same as every other federal official. He has a duty to preserve himself and his family, and if he lets Biden and the other bandits behind him become POTUS, he and his loved ones are doomed, and his followers may be persecuted mercilessly. Trump is no wimp, he has written in his books things like 'go for the jugular' and 'if someone hurts you, hurt them back, in spades'.

Setup for the counter-coup

The Trump DC rally was, I think nearly all planned ahead of time: it was expected that Antifa would show up to be agents provocateurs, the police were instructed to open the barricades, the crowd was a distraction so special forces ops could sneak in and heist Nancy Pelosi's laptop, the media would curse the almost peaceful demonstration as a riot (the deaths were probably unplanned) showing again how hypocritical MSM is. No burned out buildings, just some tumbled furniture.

Pence was playing along by passing on his chance to deny the bogus electors, Congress members fell for the trap by skipping the debates and voting like they wanted in dead of night. That put them down in official violation of Federal law.

My Scenario

Trump's game is the long one. He needs to destroy the Deep State, the Dems, the Media, the Banks, and purge the military of Deep State sympathizers, they're antagonistic warmongers. I am speculating Team Trump does nothing spectacular until Jan.20. Just before the ceremony to inaugurate Biden gets to that point, Trump's Federal Marshals, and maybe a military escort, will interrupt the proceedings and arrest everyone in attendance as coup-compliant traitors to the Constitution.

According to tradition the date for inauguration is March 4. Trump takes the oath on a warmer spring day. So the remainder of January and February would be occupied by Trump et al. working to document the coup and its consequences if it had been allowed to happen.

edit Jan.13: Alternate version of my speculation: Insurrection Act seems to have been activated Jan.10, see Jan.11. edit. No official announcement, but under emergency conditions, military now has official power.

Trump went to sign a plaque on the Border Wall, seems to be acting casually like he's accepted electoral defeat. I believe that's a sham. He's not walking away without more fuss. I believe Team Trump is setting up another trap, which may snap as my speculation suggests, on Jan.20. Trump's announcement of "orderly transition of power" will be from military to himself, shutting down Deep State official business. Thereafter, [DS] violence will probably occur.

Once those horrors have passed, we'll be gradually presented with a new and Greater America. (In the sense of better for the people, not the elites. It may see some secessions making it smaller, but that will be better too.)

For the most obvious thing, a very strong military presence is a deterrent to any would-be public assaults by militias etc. to "Stop the Steal". On the other hand, if some alternative outcome happens to overtake Biden's Bandits' proxy Communist China take-over via his "virtual" inZOGuration, it will be a distinct honor to have Guarded the Nation in such an historic event; worthy of telling grandkids "I proudly served and saved our Constitutional Republic."
