Against the law? Again, not exactly: persuading someone to invest in something and having them do it willingly is legal. Yes, it’s shady, unethical, and reckless, but not illegal. TIL Wiltold Pilecki voluntarily was captured by Nazi’s during WWII in order to infiltrate Auschwitz. Concentration camps were known, but the true atrocities were not. He collected intelligence under bad conditions. Then somehow escaped and reported his findings to Poland and subsequently the world.

TIL Simo Hayha was a fearless Finnish military sniper known as the “White Death” during the 1939-40 Winter War. Estimations vary, but Simo has been attributed between 300-800 kills while fighting in the harsh, frozen, Finnish territory. Shockingly, he never used a scope (wtf!) All kills = no scopes.
