Above all else this is just a dangerous precedent to set. This has sweet fuck all to do with safety, don't act like sites like KF and 4Chan haven't always pulled shit like this. This is PR and nothing more.

Edit: It's also funny to me that a thread about big tech cracking down on CP just a few days ago on r/technology had heavily upvoted comment that said "Oh, for fuck's sake, the "think of the children" argument refuses to die" with a number of replies chiming in agreeing and saying this is just another attempt to remove liberties. Over actual fucking CP. They've suddenly changed their tune now it's "Think of the poor trans fart porn actor"

I don't think the claims of violence are legitimate is the thing. i occasionally read Kiwifarms and, like this site, calls to violence or anything else that breaks US law are not allowed. I am also a shareholder of Cloudflare so I'm doubly pissed about their weaseling.

Yeah, and Keffals was posting photos whilst “in hiding” in a hotel. Obviously, completely afraid of being found.

As for how her location was compromised, Sorrenti is a bit unclear, but said it could be chalked up to a photo she posted of her cat. source

It looks like the "threats" were a post on /pol/ (so not even KF) threatening keffals which among other things featured the words "Ethan "The gunt" Ralph made me do this" and a KF post saying someone had called their friends and had them plant bombs at every poutine place in Belfast as well as 3 armed men waiting at each. Both of those are so clearly jokes.

There was an account that had been dormant for two years, as well as an obvious false flag on 4/pol/.

      https://kiwifarms.ru/threads/matthew-prince-lied.128900/#post-12906385

      Brackets are my clarifications.

Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince stated an imminent threat to human life was why he revoked our service.

He elaborates in his post [about CloudFlare coming to the rescue of predditors], and claims violent rhetoric had ramped up.

This seems to be based off one of two things:

      1. A post made on 4chan's /pol/ with a picture taken outside an apartment in Ireland which references the forum.

      2. A series of posts made by one user, @Washizu Iwao (formerly @Serotonin).

      ....

The post by @Washizu Iwao was posted at 9:42pm EU time. It was reported seven times. After 32 minutes it was deleted by @Ride, one of our admins. The user was also banned. (Correction: The user deleted the post himself with the reason "retarded" 14 minutes after it had been posted, and 2 minutes after #DropKiwiFarms tweeted about it, as outlined here.)

      ....

This user joined in 2020, but the account remained inactive until July, 2022.

      ....

He made a single, low-effort post in an on-topic board before going dormant again until August 21st. Every subsequent post was in the Keffals thread.

      ....

This person is not an active member of the community. This appears to be a sleeper account someone had gotten access to in July, and kept on hand to use like this.

      ....

The precedent has been set. At Cloudflare, with enough pressure, a single post by a strange account can be made to threaten a 9-year-old community and the tens of thousands of people who have used it every day for years. There has never been a violent incident in our history, which cannot be said for many other sites still on Cloudflare. This narrative feels like a lie spun up to save face.

Honestly, I'd like to see what'd happen if someone were to go to them and say "I need KF for self-care, put KF back up or I'll hurt myself" and basically force them to flat-out say who matters more.

i know this is a minor setback and is in a way disappointing but oh my god on another level this is fucking amazing.

once again kiwifarms literally just talks shit on these people, and the fact that they expressed their opinions openly was enough to drive a fart porn fetishist to sicc his army of castrati on a fucking internet service provider. they're so scared. the truth is out there and they can't keep suppressing it.

Streisand effect as well. A bunch of people who have never otherwise heard of this website and never would have now will which otherwise just will spread the message farther. Since once you put up "this website is bad you can't see it" will only pique people's curiosity.

      [–][deleted] 12 insightful - 3 fun12 insightful - 2 fun13 insightful - 3 fun -  (12 children)

Possibly. They're back up at kiwifarms.ru now. Going to Russia for freedom is so ironic.

      [–][deleted] 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

      Russia does have propaganda.

What people don’t understand is that Russia has the GDP of California.

      [–][deleted] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Russia is known for censorship, they're probably loving this, it's bad optics is what I mean.

I thought Russia had the GDP of Texas, Cali makes more iirc.

      [–]Dragonerne 6 insightful - 3 fun6 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

the jewish USA is also known for censorship

      [–]ukrdude10 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (8 children)

It's actually a good argument for Russia's "multi-polar world" ideal. Dissident Russians can escape to the West, and dissident westerners can escape to Russia. I can't imagine what would happen if Biden's America still had total hegemony.

      [–][deleted] 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

Not really, that's just propaganda. Russia is not exactly a bastion of free speech unless they're busy making the US look hypocritical.

      [–]QueenBread 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (5 children)

And yet, I feel the individual citizen in Russia might have more freedom than the individual citizen in America. Why? Because in America it's the OTHER citizens who snitch and attack you.

      [–][deleted] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Hahahaha. Oooo, thanks for that laugh. That's a really stupid take, Russians are known for snitching on political dissidents. That's why it's ironic to need them in this instance....

      [–]QueenBread 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Are you stuck in the '50s? Do you think Russia is like the movie Red Heat or something?

      [–][deleted] 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I was drinking. I was being an asshole. 🙏

      [–]ukrdude10 5 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

In the 1930s they did, but now it's considered a taboo behavior. Americans snitch way more than Russians, they will snitch on someone for a parking violation, playing music in a park after 10pm, etc. It got especially bad during the Covid restrictions. I come from a Ukrainian family, this shit seems absolutely insane to us.

      [–]ukrdude10 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yup I totally agree. I can't fully trust fellow citizens, they might be very friendly and caring, then one day snitch to the FBI and send me off to the hole. I find the Russian/Ukrainian community to be more trustworthy. Although subhuman rats are found there too.

      [–]ukrdude10 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I didn't say they are a bastion of free speech. What I meant is, persecuted figures might find refuge in the enemy country, like Snowden did in Russia, or how Russian dissidents escape to the west. If all countries were under the wing of the US, Snowden would be rotting in prison now.

They basically reneged on their promise to never do this kind of thing again from Wednesday. https://blog.cloudflare.com/cloudflares-abuse-policies-and-approach/

Avoid Cloudflare. They are not principled. They are a liability.

      [–][deleted] 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Totally agree. Who would trust them now when they so readily bend to social media pressure. It'll be interesting to see what their stock price does, might actually go up. There's a lot of bad PR on kiwi farms and most people are under the impression this banning was a good and noble thing.

PS. Trusting the plan and waiting 2 more weeks won't fix any of this.

      [–]Rastafoo 11 insightful - 2 fun11 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Ironic since Cloudflare hosted "Cum On Printed Pics" and 8chan and other websites that hosted full on child porn.

The irony of this is Cloudflare is supposed to act as protection against DDoS attacks, but they’ve now demonstrated that they are themselves a vector of attack.

Anytime you want to take down a site using Cloudflare, just post some “edgy” content yourself, screenshot it, distribute it via your simps and then complain to Cloudflare.

Now that they have given in once, they’ve set the precedent that they will react to a twitter mob and a clueless mainstream media, who appear to have blindly bought the Keffals propaganda simply because trans/right side of history, and you can bring down anybody that allow user-generated content and doesn’t protect X class’ fee-fees.

      Cloudflare rendered themselves obsolete.

Internet freedom of expression has been dying a rapid death and this is yet another step towards a third-world dictatorship kind of internet.

And they've already found their next target in 4Chan. Yeah, that won't end well for them

Edit: Apparently there are also people saying mumsnet should be their next target. That also won't end well, but for opposite reasons. It'll be pretty hard to convince the average person that a forum for a bunch of middle aged mums is a hive of scum and villainy. That'll have the same effect as trying to argue against "Lesbians don't like dick"

      [–]cars 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I don't think TRAs will start aiming for 4chan. Many TIMs are incredibly racist (i.e. Yaniv) and love degenerate porn. Those are all things 4chan provides.

I saw a post on the Keffals subreddit saying that they are going for Ovarit and lolcow.farm next, both of which have a heavy female population. TRAs hate it when biological women create spaces for themselves where they can speak freely.

      https://www.reddit.com/r/keffals/comments/x58dk9/now_that_kiwifarms_is_down_we_should_take_down/

      [–]deusex 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I really don't think they would be able to take down 4chan because /lgbt/ board has alot of troons on it. It wouldn't be in their own self-interest to take down one of their own prowling grounds.

Plus if they try that, even a bunch of dudes that aren't troons will suddenly slap on a wig, some high heels, makeup and cry bigotry at Cloudfare until they give in to give the site back. It would be a hilarious shitstorm.

      [–]Alienhunter糞大名 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I think for mumsnet it would be harder since people are far more likely to fight that whereas for something like Kiwifarms or 4chan anonymity is far more crucial. I'd never admit in public I was a member of the later two. Mumsnet however is far lass controversial.

They aim for places they know will not have much public pushback. But slowly and surely it will push the conversation off the internet and more and more into the mainstream where it becomes harder and harder to hide their psychotic tendencies from the public eye when the veil of anonymity is removed.

      [–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

This is all I saw Null write about it so far:

DDOS-Guard was confident they could handle the Kiwi Farms and said "bring it on" for less than 24 hours.

That seems to imply they were not up to the DDoS attacks levied at KF.
