This seems like an example where people think "the grass is always greener on the other side". Gay guy is attracted to "straight" men and thinks "these people would sleep with me but for me being a man". Somehow he gets it into his head that if he becomes a woman then people would be throwing themselves at him. He buys into this prepackaged ideology that affirms his ideas and then he transitions and finds that he can't get dates. Instead of questioning his preconceptions or the ideology he bought into, he has to find some other factors.

This is also an example of why transgenderism needs to be disentangled into multiple issues. You have the self hating gays like this but then you also get the autogynephiles, butch lesbians, & fujoshis. All of them have extremely different mindsets and reasons for buying into this gender ideology.
