Um- maybe momentum, and not inertia?

This group seems to have had lots and lots of inertia already, and that would be good to overcome... I know that I'm gonna start paying attention over here now, because when Reddit pulls the plug over there, it'll be with no notice and no recourse. They're funny that way.

I'd say "inertia" because inertia is able to resist outside pressure/force, whereas momentum is more of a temporary thing for a specific element

You're right the sub has tons of subscribers which is impressive, but without any activity it's as good as dead (and has no inertia)

Therefore, we need some mad scientists to bring it to life!

Well, point taken. But think of it this way: inertia is the tendency of an object at rest to remain at rest. Momentum is the tendency of an object in motion to remain in motion. So if you are standing in between a concrete wall and a 10-ton boulder that is at rest, inertia is what protects you. But if you are standing between the same wall and the same boulder, and the boulder is in motion (even moving slowly), momentum means that it could be a bad day...

I know, I know, it's pedantic. But what we need after Bernie succumbed to the dem party's enforced inertia is some momentum, because there are some people who need to understand that the goddamned boulder is finally starting to move. Anyhoo, agreed on all salient points!
