PART 1/3

(Due to character limits on SaidIt PM.)

Before you respond, I'd like your permission for me to post this openly in /s/WikiSpooks so that others may see, contribute, etc. More minds seems better. If you don't feel comfortable with this lemme know - or tell me which parts concern you. Once we isolate those parts to be kept private and both agree, then I could share the remainder. ALSO: I could paste this into the /s/Wikispooks/wiki/ where no one looks and we can both edit it there (though we must be VERY careful NOT to BOTH be editing at the same time). My preference is always more openness. Without further ado...

Sounds like we need to start and build a lasting sustainable campaign. [Responding to initial PM.]

I can stall on my project until yours is more stable. After my first draft I was intending to do much more WS stuff and a lot more crossover with SaidIt in the fall, but now seems fine too.

I scrape by monthly, but I can help in emergencies. WS is too important to go down. Every month I spend about $100 Canadian on "extras" like little gifts, shoes, books, a less poor meal - or another hard drive for my digital hoarding. It's always a long month until the next one. I'm limited but have freedom. You can consider WS safe for 10 weeks now. On the 31st is the earliest I can help. If it's okay I'd prefer to do $65 over 2 months, rather than one sum - or less over more months if possible. If times are desperate. What was the old financial situation like? Was there any kind of steady income or was it mostly out of his pocket? Was there any kind of campaign stuff or issues I should also know about? With your new leadership role and a wiki, it would be a perfect time to keep a transparent open ledger of the expenses, etc. ideally with a roadmap of site goals, etc. Naturally you might want to keep some donors anonymous, but the numbers can be open.

Also I have two local friends that might be willing to help out financially, even though one doesn't even know how to use a computer and the other is only just starting to be exposed to non-mainstream ideas beyond the "radical" Green Party.

We can also create goals, to-do lists, etc. regarding the "campaign(s)".

If you already have a system you can ignore as much of the following as you like, or fold it in somehow. This is my brainstorming out loud, and what I would do, starting as I am knowing nothing. Don't feel bound to any of it but feel free to use whatever is useful.

First: Decide who/what/where/why/how/when we're gonna do. I recommend we start a WS campaign intro page. We need a name for this, perhaps "WikiSpooks Catallaxy" or something simpler or longer or fancier or whatever. All future related content would be on this intro page with a table of contents and eventually several sub-pages as things develop. You or I can even copypaste this outline there as a starting template/to-do list if it helps.

At this point it seems like a good opportunity to start crossing over with SaidIt, and a simple post pointing to that page, including the year and month can be where we can have a casual dialogue on this forum. Of course we could do it on WS too, but IMO it's worth the extra effort to crossover and hopefully every month's new discussion will draw in folks (or weekly if necessary), among other things.

We need to come up with an "Among Other Things List" (temporary name) of content we need to share on SaidIt and perhaps beyond. What do I mean by this? Well, for some time now I've been thinking about it and even mentioned a couple things here and there. For example...

PART 2/3

  • WikiSpooks Monthly eNewsletter(s)
    • The following may be included in one eNewsletter OR be split up into multiple topical eNewsletters focused on different matters.
    • Potential content may include:
      • donation information with pointers to the open expenses ledger, roadmap, and goals
      • lots of stuff about the daily goings on of how WS is doing, including trivia, stats, figures
      • the eNewsletter posted/archived on WS, SaidIt, and ideally shared freely on other social media platforms
        • An "official" WikiSpooks eNewsletter could earn social media rewards: Brave Broswer, Steemit, Minds, Medium, Everipedia, IPFS/Filecoin, etc.
      • Lists (substitute 10 for another number or just leave out the "top #" altogether) may include:
        • 10 most viewed articles that month (IMO, avoid "popular" with "most viewed" to be less egocentric)
        • 10 most needing more work considering the views
        • 10 most viewed new articles
        • 10 latest articles
        • 10 current event articles
        • 10 needed articles
        • 10 wanted articles
        • 10 requested articles
        • 10 recommended articles, from the...
        • 10 outstanding contributors (assuming they want attention)
        • 10 deepstate and/or tradecraft terms you may not know (part of a glossary series I want to develop on WS, though I'd prefer to use categories which I know you don't like/want)
        • 10 best audio only podcasts
        • 10 best videos under 10 minutes
        • 10 best videos under 30 minutes
        • 10 best video interviews/discussions under 45 minutes
        • 10 best video interviews/discussions long
        • 10 best documentaries
        • 10 best political analysis
        • 10 best media analysis
        • 10 best satire (The Onion, The Babylon Bee, YouTube, alt-tubes, etc)
        • 10 best political memes/cartoons
        • 10 best conspiracy memes/cartoons
        • mimick/mock sections from WP front page: "From today's featured article", "In the news", "Did you know", "On this day", "From today's featured list", "Today's featured image"
        • etc etc etc.
        • Note: Obviously not all of these lists may be necessary for every eNewsletter, some might become staples, others utilized on occasion, or rotated from month to month, etc. To be determined.
      • It seems logical that we also have a wonderful resource in SaidIt so we could potentially recruit SaidIt folks into this process and/or make the eNewsletter a co-production and potentially a dual fundraiser for both sites.
        • I wouldn't know how to easily measure the top lists on SaidIt considering the perpetual flow, but I'm guessing it can be done.
        • IMO, it might be better to solicit nomination or contributions for the "best" stories of the week/month, because what is 3 weeks old may be better represented by a newer summary with less votes.
      • Target audience(s):
        • Experts : Woke folks without the time/inclination to filter dozens and dozens of posts for the best of the best of the best information - we can filter it all down for them thus creating a valuable service worthy of donations. IMO, this content should include A) a clear and concise title (no click bait), B) a TL;DR short paragraph, C) a link to the full article, and D) one good image (and maybe eventually the option of a gallery).
        • Beginners : Normies, new to the whole scene, who will need things simplified and explained with less complex citations.
        • Advanced : Half-woke folks, who may need some hand holding but can fill in the blanks.
        • These 3 stages of audience and their 3 editions may be developed over time, starting with the Expert level, then if we have the luxury of manpower to create additional editions, we can expand to the Beginner then fill in the middle with Advanced (we may need better terms). Or maybe these levels are just a bad idea.
        • Another optional way to present content, assuming we find the manpower, is to start Monthly, work up to Bi-Monthly, Weekly, and maybe even Bi-Weekly or Daily if it were to really catch on. I wouldn't be very interested in working that hard though, unless...
        • With an open ledger, and people volunteering, and donations coming in - it might eventually be worth forming an online workers cooperative of sorts. With success people could get paid/rewarded/donations (or whatever you want to call it) for their curation, research, and writing efforts, after the site expenses with an emergency and investment nest egg are covered. All of this could be discussed openly so that everyone is on the record reaching agreements being accountable, etc etc etc.
        • I'm guessing there are a lot more potential target audiences and/or ways to do this.
      • Contests:
        • The WikiSpooks Monthly eNewsletter might want a better title such as "The WikiSpooks Watcher" (or better). We could post a contest to everyone to come up with the best name and/or we could have an auction to name it with the highest bidder granted the privilege and the funds could go towards site hosting.
        • Another contest would be to come up with a mascot. (Or we could forgo that as) I have one to propose. Earlier this week I fell in love with this little image that I took a screenshot of, then cropped and cleaned it for Wikipedia and InfoGalactic: a wyvern_200x200.png) is a dragon-like creature that I'd seen before but didn't know the name of, nor ever see one so appealing (to me) as this one. Only just a moment ago did I realize it would be terrific for WS too! On many levels. "Par sit fortuna labori" = let the success be equal to the labor is the motto associated with that crest, but we could easily find another motto for WikiSpooks and/or Saidit.
          • The contest could be broken down in levels too: A) mascot concept, B) mascot name, C) mascot design, D) motto, E) etc.
      • Art: * Instead of making silly memes could certainly take it to the next level and start creating my own political cartoons and/or paintings, though I'd prefer to only do one a month (ie. for the eNewsletter) and have some input in the process to make certain it's as good as it can be (unlike some of my meme shots in the dark). The original art could be auctioned to raise funds too.
      • I know I had more ideas, but I'm wiped and forgot them. I can come back to this.

PART 3/3

I'm getting ahead of myself a bit. I hate dealing with finances. Theoretical understanding can be interesting at times, but not all the tedious accounting stuff. I can get OCD on other stuff, but not that. I would make the worst treasury secretary in any organization due to my impressive procrastination skills. That said I can expound on some theoretical shit for you...

We need all the funding stuff established before we can ask people to donate to it Decentralize All Things - Wiki - Financial funding alternatives list plus lots of cryptocurrency options which can be a little easier to set up, but not always so easy to cash out. Then again, with the rampant censorship, options like PayPal, Patreon, etc may not really be viable. Not only should we anticipate that but we should also immediately start building some kind back networks to either skirt their blockades on the low down or find alternatives. Also I know nothing about taxes here in Canada much less international or whatever. First priority: maintain the hosting. Thereafter we can figure it out if the funds start flowing - even if much of it remains virtual for some time (ie. can't pay for whatever reasons, etc).

SaidIt has much of their stuff already figured out, though they could add a couple more cryptos IMO. I don't know what WikiSpooks has. As much as I hate this stuff I also need to set myself up for when I finish my first draft (before George RR Martin finishes his books) as I hope to finally legitimately beg for support and contributions to take that almost 20 year old project (and my own life) up to the next levels in epic ways. Futhermore, I'll need to be set up and established for...

An online store could feature merch sections for WikiSpooks, SaidIt, my project, and people of these communities who wish to submit stuff. As a fan of open transparency the breakdowns and funds raised can be openly discussed and shown so people can feel better about where their money goes and even have a say in the policies and how much goes where, etc. Plus we can determine what the best products are, sustainability, fair trade, etc. But this project is at minimum 6 months away for me - yet it's firmly in my plans, whether WS and SI care to actively participate or not.

There are probably other ideas I've forgotten for now or forever, but I wrote them down as fast as I could type coherently.

One thing I accidentally skipped over on the first page between "First:" and "At this point"... Second: We need a strong paragraph or few that could compel people to donate to WikiSpooks. I would not consider this an eNewsletter, but just asking for alms, enough for a decent post but not verbosely lengthy. Hopefully it will be composed and constructed well enough to be the obligatory standard copypaste begging section for every eNewsletter - or better yet: a reusable template with minor custom updates for each issue to make it a little more interesting somehow.

I know this is a lot to digest, unpack, dissect, etc. Don't worry about most of it for now. Let's start with "First" and "Second" and go from there. Get back to me ASAP just to lemme know if I can post it (with a little intro and adjusting for the SaidIt folks as well as the WS folks I hope will come over) or if we should first go over it in the wiki more carefully. I'm standing by breathlessly (no, I don't have COVID).

[Response]

PART Deux

It's a privilege to help WikiSpooks. I wish I could do more. Actually, it's been a long time since we communicated. I'm sorry to hear you were ill but I'm glad you've recovered. I feel bad, but not from COVID. I feel bad that in May I got distracted and bogged down working on the stupid CSS. M7 and D3 both promised to help me iron out the last few bugs in both my major CSS themes but they haven't yet. I was waiting around then for them to finally help me. After a while I learned that M7 and D3 were federating with Notabug (a partial decentralization), so that was obviously far more important than my pretty themes. Meanwhile I'd lost sooo much time assuming it would soon be over with when I really should have been drafting up and applying all the ideas I had for promoting the WS anniversary. In fact I should have been doing that instead of the CSS to be far more productive for the cause. Anyway, the day came and went with little fanfare. I learned hard with that and will try not to make that same mistake again - plan ahead. Thereafter I did manage to get some banners and CSS (still unfinished) presentable for some other subs. Mid June there was a DDoS attack and then M7 set the security too high so I was blocked for days and I took it as a sign to back away from my SaidIt addiction as I'd promised to work on my project. Obviously I can't stay away, and I'm still backed up with good stuff I'm compelled to share even though now it gets lost in the torrent of new users. Things have changed biggly since this last Reddit purge.

Your expenses are not extreme and about the same as SaidIt I think. I feel confident we can make it happen, especially with all the new blood. But we have to be coordinated to GRAB a place on the front page. I did alot of extra BS today to get my post noticed, and it barely made an impression (also, your feedback would be welcome, in public or private on) https://saidit.net/s/IdeasForSaidIt/comments/5gj5/proposed_saidit_policy_ideas_for_magnora7_to/ . One place we can coordinate these actions is in the /s/WhiteOwlSocialClub where my last experimental post there was dismally received, but I feel like the premise is sound and could be revisited from other angles and/or with more coordination than just from myself alone.

There are many on SaidIt who love WikiSpooks. Koko... just said as much and I KNOW for certain that d3rr loves it, though he's just not really into mediawikis and feels unsure of himself in that unfamiliar realm.

IMO, becoming subscription-based would be terrible.

Your hatlink banner is great, but I think we can do better. Something I can do sooner than later is create some kind of graphic bar (ie. thermometer) that can display how much is needed. Sometimes graphics are stronger than words. Actually, I was hoping that in the fall and/or over the next year I could revamp the entire graphic look of the WS - if you're interested. (By the way, the /s/WikiSpooks CSS is still incomplete, temporary, and too vibrant from my ultimate goal. I want more subtlety but the vivid colours help see changes when coding.) I could handle all the graphics myself and/or accept some help if someone wanted to participate, but above all I would want to do it openly and interactively with you while also getting feedback from WS and SI users. But I digress.

I don't know why M7 hides his donate button in the footer. 2/3 of the unfinished parts of the CSS is about creating an announcement box at the top of the side bar. It says, "Decentralize All Things" across all subs with that CSS but I need to learn how to make more than just one line and add links - then I was going to add a "donate" link. On WikiSpooks I have a lot of ideas about how I can grab people's attention to donate. Also, it need not be obnoxious like many ads, nor even a banner across the entire head. We can talk more on this soon. 10% was what Peter got via his limited campaign. I won't guarantee you anything but I can assure you I/we'll do much better - even in this "new normal" which is sure to get worse.

If we can stay with the existing host then I recommend it for now. Every month we can reassessments until we feel stable enough to do quarterly assessments. At present I think it would be a distraction while we get our sea-legs on the new old ship you've been made Captain of. I have an idea that I'd like you to consider, though I don't know enough about hosting to know if this is possible or my own fiction. I think you said the monthly expense was $122 so if we can raise that then good. If we can double that great. Triple excellent. Quadruple beyond words. My advice is to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. What does this mean? Well, like the First Nations have a policy that they plan 7 generations in advance, I think we need to do something similar. All excess funds raised get saved. IMO, in these dangerous times I do NOT think we/you should pay too far in advance in case they are forced to shut it down without refund (as is abundant elsewhere). 1) Keep the funds secure and pay only when necessary and not too far ahead. If things go well we'll bring in surplus. With open accounting people will not be opposed to providing it if we have clear goals outlined and presented with a logical rational. So what to do with the surplus? 2) Keep that savings account building for a) emergencies b) legal fees if something happens (though I doubt it would make much of a dent) c) save for investments (ie. gear, required custom code bounty, etc) and/or d) more hosting. What do I mean by more hosting? This is me dreaming and hoping it's possible sooner than later: 3) What if Wikispooks was hosted in 2 or more places around the world with a mirrored database that would detect your proximity and serve you better being closer. This might complicate things and/or it might help make WS more resilient and/or provide better service. Also, perhaps we could serve a backup SaidIt, PeerTube, a VPN, an IPFS library and/or ZeroNet mirror. I know about these, but have no clue how to operate them (yet). As I've mentioned before, WikiSpooks could also include solutions-based content - including how we need to set up our own networks independent of the corporatocracy, by as many decentralized means as possible. We all need to learn about this stuff and we all need to be active co-hosts - and it only makes sense to try to develop some kind of plug-and-play system that any noobie can simply set up to become just another useful hub in our decentralized network. Not only is this fucking audacious and beyond ambitious - it's critically necessary. Ask anyone who knows. This is not an immediate concern, but IMO it's fundamentally critical we never forget that this is THE most important goal in the physical world - if we can survive until then. All this sounds hyperbolic but I assure you it's not.

Cheaper hosting can be considered and researched in a month, and hopefully we won't be needing it until we're ready to add a second or third mirrored site.

Regarding the Prop-Or-Not list, I wonder if you've got a draft of your email to share. Perhaps I can give it a look and give some helpful feedback. I'm hoping you haven't actually sent any just yet. We have 10 weeks. In the first week or two, three at latest, we need to get together the best sales pitch package we can possibly muster - this includes all this stuff, but organized, edited, refined, and filtered, a site roadmap of goals, the open accounting, plans for graphic overhaul, more features and interactivity, community, projects, etc etc etc. (omit the ideas you don't like - or put "maybe" beside them). These long descriptive outlines can be within collapsed sections to expand or in completely separate links for more info. In short, this is the vision of the future and our resistance. WikiSpooks is far more central to the truth-seeker community than I suspect you know.

A simple email may be nice, but if I can add a graphic flare it can be better. Furthermore, it seems more practical, rather than to send them content to actually invite them to the site where an open letter can be beautifully presented asking for their support. If they're on that page reading your request then they are more than half way there since getting them away from their email is key. That page can point to the road map, include pictures, etc etc etc with soooo much more behind it than just some email.

Talk about synchronicity... In 2015-2016 I tried to make a Wikipedia article on James Corbett but was censored and ultimately banned for the end of 2016 and most of 2017 - a year, for being "another polite truther". I copied the scrubbed article and posted it on RationalWiki before discovering they weren't rational at all and finally posted it on InfoGalactic (though long out of date). Here's the synchronicity... Since then I've not spoken to anyone at Rational Wiki, though I've checked back a couple times and found that they turned my article into a mockery. However just this week a guy who's been working over that article reached out to ask what I think of it now. It hasn't been a top priority so I haven't read it yet to let him know.

To make a long story longer, before they "corrupted" my Rational Wiki article, it was cited by the Prop-Or-Not (likely CIA assets) list-makers, and the Washington Post cited that Prop-Or-Not list about fake news. Corbett did a show on it and because I pointed out on YouTube that it was my article he was reading (before it was corrupted) he gifted me a membership to The Corbett Report.com - and it seems to be non-expiring. Money is tight with me so I've never paid any memberships, nor donated any money to support anyone, other than one thing. One day Corbett was giving out 0.01 BTC to anyone who responded within a timeframe and I was lucky enough to have caught that show within hours of airing. I sat on that for a few years and last year donated more than half if not most of it to M7 and SaidIt - only about $45 at the time. Anyways, I'm poor but I do what I can to help, and like I've said elsewhere if anyone wants to get a message onto TCR I can post there, where there's a fantastic community too. I've asked many times for Corbett to interview M7 but it's been ignored or overlooked. I've also asked many other truth-seekers to do likewise with equal success. SaidIt is a couple years old and has it's pros and cons - but WS has a grand head start and I suspect we could find a fine audience for our case - especially if we have a grand vision with all the transparency and decentralized tech solutions he's been sliding us all these years. Before we build up your hopes too much, I felt confident there was a good story in interviewing M7 - after all I discovered SaidIt via M7s 2 interviews on Tin Foil Hat and 2 on the Higherside Chats podcasts. Still, I knew about WikiSpooks loooong before I got proper woke.

So there's that. And you didn't finish a thought, " There are a limited number of people on the PoN list, so getting "

I want to bring to your attention a list that is many years old and out of date, but was once a pretty formidable list of notable Truthers that I was aware of. I semi-hid it in a collapsed green section under "Fascinating Viewpoints" https://infogalactic.com/info/User:JasonCarswell#Fascinating_Viewpoints . This list I was intending in the fall to bring over to WikiSpooks to start populating it and writing articles about folks with the aid of SaidIt folks. /u/Jesus seems to really know everyone's compromised secrets so that could be a lot of fun "breaking down our heroes" so to speak.

There are a handful of other "non-celeb" truth-seekers not on SaidIt I can also call upon when we're ready, though not as many as I'd like - and then of course we should organize a campaign of folks to specifically campaign some key truth-seekers in an organized fashion. For example, one day everyone ask Amazing Polly and Ben Swann, next day everyone ask Computing Forever and Corbett, next Dan Dicks and Democracy At Work, all the way up the alphabet. Furthermore, I think we should come up with a clever "alliance" type name and also hype up SaidIt, NotABug, and maybe a few other worthy sites too (after asking them about it first).

Pitches

A) Website viewers

Wikispooks has over 100,000 viewers/month. If one in a thousand gave £1/month, that would cover our costs. Dare to be that one in a thousand!

B) Potential link sponsors

Dear ***,

I'm writing to you on behalf of a fellow PropOrNot "Fake News Website", Wikispooks. Since our donor since 2010, Peter Presland, is retiring, we are looking for alternate ways to cover our web-hosting bill, now higher than ever. (https://www.insider.com/conspiracy-theory-wikispooks-huge-traffic-increase-coronavirus-data-2020-6)

We have started a Patren page, but that will take time to grow, so to tide us over we are looking into sponsored links to other creditable sites, such as ***. We currently get about 3000 visitors/day. Live statistics are available at https://wikispooks.com/piwik/index.php Please let us know whether you are interested in a sponsored link from Wikispooks. Thanks,

C) Sponsored links I have tried a few members of the PropOrNot List, but not even got a reply yet. So a landing page would seem to be a good idea, one that confirms the origin of the email and puts the would be sponsors in the picture. * https://wikispooks.com/wiki/PropOrNot/List

D) Landing page/Campaign HQ/?... Actually, how a about a link to a page like this as a landing page? As you said, putting it on Wikispooks itself would be logical. WS has never had a particularly effective community center/village pump etc. How about: https://wikispooks.com/wiki/Wikispooks:Community_portal ? Or maybe https://wikispooks.com/wiki/Wikispooks:Projects ?
