I wonder if Ecuador was given some kickbacks by the EU/UK in exchange for cutting of Assange's internet. I don't know why else they would suddenly do it after years of supporting Assange.

The Ecuadorian government said in statement that it had acted because Assange had breached “a written commitment made to the government at the end of 2017 not to issue messages that might interfere with other states”.

Sounds like some bullshit agreement where they can pull the rug out from under him any time, as that's an extremely broad activity to ban. Sort of like the Iran nuclear deals, where they basically force Iran in to default after forcing them in to a bad deal, simply so they can say "they violated the treaty everyone agreed to!" and use that as a reason to justify attacking them.

Same tactic.
