In 1996 I moved to NYC to animate. Though I did mostly TV commercials I did not own a television.
In 1999, Lola, Spurz, and Eric Trueheart were my companions on a long long journey from Vegas to Burning Man in the Black Rock Desert - and back, sharing the only RV I ever had at Burning Man, my first time. After, leaving the desert, Lola and I decided we were going to host Club Seal the next year - a camp for all the Canadians - and we'd host the Great Canadian Beaver Eating Contest. For real. But I still did not know much about Eric.
Even 2 years later I was camped in Gigsville (with Burning Man's Black Rock City) at Project X right beside a glorious recreation of the Invader Zim life-sized cartoon house, which was neato but I had no clue what any of it meant at the time. Finally a couple years later I finally watched Invader Zim, because Eric had written some of the now infamous episodes.

As members of the ever growing Gigsville clan I ran into Eric at Burning Man or in L.A. but I never did get to pick his brains about the Zim thing I learned about only too late to really tell him. Parties and big crowds make it difficult to really talk. They had a great comedy troupe going too, The Ministry Of Unknown Science. I often wondered why they didn't go big. Though knowing what I know about show business now - you only get big if they let you get big.
Turns out there's going to be an Invader Zim special on Netflix this summer. Too bad Eric wasn't a part of it, it seems. Looks like it's already here.

Eric has a funny site: http://www.erictrueheart.com/
I wrote this inspired by a random YouTube suggestion (not so good): "The Rise and Fall of Invader Zim: What Happened?" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_RVedLJaEc
there doesn't seem to be anything here
