It seems you are incapable of reading the actual article.

Guy goes to the store without a mask on. As per local bylaws, is asked by staff to put a mask on and offered a free mask. Goes fucking crazy, physically assaults a member of staff, drives off leading police on a dangerous chase which they break off in the interest of public safety, then pay him a home visit using his license plate records.

It is only during the home visit that crazy dude gets shot, probably because, being batshit crazy, he probably pulled a gun on the cops. We do not know what happened yet, because we have not seen the results of the SIU investigation or any body camera footage.

This is obviously very different from "shot for not wearing a mask". Stop spreading idiotic conspiracy theories.

    Nutjobs in the USA make the same claim about constitutionality of masks, disregarding George Washington's mandatory inoculation requirements for the military against smallpox.     There is literally no condition, none, that would prevent someone from wearing a surgical mask other than a respiratory issue severe enough that they'd be dragging around an oxygen tank with them or literally using a ventilator. And he was clearly fit enough to physically assault the store staff. All of the conspiracy theories around extended mask wear and oxygen saturation/carbon dioxide poisoning are false consipiracy theories.

      Setting aside the accuracy (or lack thereof) of your ass-pull statistics, Canada's population is over 37 million. Simple math question: what is 1% of 37 million?

      Bonus question: why would that many deaths be seen as acceptable to anyone, especially if they were easily preventable?

      Extra bonus question: why do you think you not understanding how something as simple as a barrier mask works somehow affects the indisputable effectiveness of barrier masks in reducing airborne droplet transmission?

        The reason it's only been that many deaths in Canada so far is because we've been diligent about stopping the virus before it can infect more people, unlike the United States. Protip: it involves wearing masks. A 1% death rate on a rapidly, easily transmissible disease is massive.

        I suppose it's my fault for being dumb enough to respond in good faith to someone who is demonstrably illiterate and doesn't seem concerned about any of the deaths that have occurred (hey, it's just the elderly, fuck 'em, right?).

          It's actually MUCH less than 1%. The flu is far more deadly. Not to mention smoking, alcohol, sugar, fast food, driving, etc. yet we're not shutting down the highways.

          If you're worried about mass deaths - let's talk about all the wars the US is in, plus the UN, and that Canada supports. Or we could stick with the minority population (less than 10%) of Canada that lives more than 100 miles from the US border and all the travesties happening in the First Nations communities.

          The painful truth is this scamdemic is WAAAAAAY overblown and mismanaged in order to create more totalitarian laws that will NOT be repealed after the COVID-1984 goes away, to train us all to OBEY, and to crash economies world with giving EVEN MORE wealth to the 0.000001%, while people like you believe the liars in government and media who were at an all time low on the trust scale pre-COVID.           Even if he was "batshit crazy" I feel sorry for him and those he affected - and for the minions at all our fucking grocery stores in Canada and beyond who have to push this corporate driven bullshit. The management should shoot themselves or their executives.
