He looks similar to Gizmo. Would you consider them tuxedo cats? So you have 2 cats now? I hope your wife likes cats. Maybe she is part of the reason you got another.

Yep, they're both Tuxedo cats. We were hoping the similar appearance would make Gizmo instantly get along with the kitten, no such luck. 2 cats now, yes sir, and the wife is entirely the reason we got another one. If we can't get Gizmo to like it we're going to have to rehome it. I don't want to live with two cats who hate each other.

Since they look alike, they could have thought they were from the same litter, or remind each other of their brothers and sisters.

I have six cats. Two of them are almost completely black and they get along fine, as if they were brothers. I understand you not wanting to have cats fighting in your house. Our cats are not at peace with each other all the time, but they rarely do any damage to each other. My cats sometimes hiss, or take an occasional swipe, but they also can lay around together and be at peace. I am glad to have each one as each is unique and we love them all. My wife and children love them, too.

If Gizmo sees that you and your wife are friendly toward Gadget, he might learn that she is not prey for him to kill. I would think that an older male would be fine with a female cat being introduced to the home. The kitten might want to play, and Gizmo might get irritated. Well, I hope it goes well for you, and if it makes your wife happy, that is a plus for you.

I remember the video of the homemade scratching post you set-up for them. Our cats have to live in a small apartment in an area it is not safe for them to go outside. When Gizmo first joined us, Peaches was dying and she hated him. I still feel bad her last year of life was extra horrible thanks to a new kitten, but he was an abandoned kitten and needed a home. It was not ideal. But I'm not going to make Gizmo suffer through the next 17 years with another cat he hates. We're going to try our damnedest to get them to get along.

If Gizmo sees that you and your wife are friendly toward Gadget, he might learn that she is not prey for him to kill.

Or he feels jealous and kills her out of spite.

We do have a house, but all of our cats stay indoors. We do not let them outside, for their protection.

When Gizmo first joined us, Peaches was dying and she hated him.

We had a similar experience! Miffy was the only cat in our house for years, and she hated the new cats, but they wanted to be friends with her. She has since passed away.

Miffy hates the other cats https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkPyFKKTnr4

At the end of her life, we let her have her own room of the house and we kept the doors closed so she could have it to herself. She died in peace in that room and was not harassed by the other cats. When I would visit her in her last days, she was still friendly toward me and did not act like she was in pain. She lost all her appetite, so I knew she was dying, but she was sweet to me until her end. Yesterday, one of our cats meowed in a way that reminded me of her. And I wondered what happened to her little spirit. Where is her spirit now? Is it embodied in a new physical form or does she continue to exist in the spirit realm only? These are questions I do not have answers to.

I hope it works out with you, your wife, and the two tuxedo cats!

It did not, kitten jumped off the second story balcony and ran away. Here's hoping it has a good life out there. It doesn't know us or the area to stick around so, not expecting to see it again.

Sorry to be short, kind of saddened here.

Wow, that was an unexpected and tragic end. I guess Gizmo isn't sad, though.

Good news!
I thought Gadget was a female?

We're not really sure of the gender right now.

He probably will just think "that's the bastard who keeps looking at me out of the mirror and now I can finally get my claws on him."

He managed to open a door already. Escape from the Bathroom. We got a little Kurt Russell here.

How's Bradley the Huskie?

Cody is also an escape artist. He's escaped 10 times this week. We're getting their though. He's a very soft natured dog.

If things don't work out with her and Gizmo, I'll send her to you for free. $100 if you want air holes in the box. 😂

Congratulations. I have to put one to sleep later today. :(

He ran away, jumped off a second story enclosed patio.

I'm sorry about your cat, putting them down is awful. 🫂

https://i.imgur.com/rKCfoNf.jpg she's (?) chilling in her kennel, seems pretty comfy. This was an outdoor cat.
