I think it's totally cool and good that a major tech oligarch working directly with the government censored the speech of a sitting US congresswomen for the abominable crime of quoting a statistic simply because it was framed in a way that doesn't conform to the institutional narrative.

The institutions that seek to control the free flow of ideas in the information economy obviously have our best interests in mind. That's why any challenge to their ideas is labeled dangerous misinformation. The Pfizer CEO told me that these people are literally responsible for millions of deaths, and he seems pretty trustworthy. There are even direct financial ties between Pfizer and one of the main fact checkers Twitter uses - Reuters. It's for our own protection.

This doesn't seem like a threat to our democracy at all.

Comments like this are exactly what she and her Big Corp doners want to see, as they develop an alternate universe for voters who would otherwise never vote for her and Republicans who are making their lives worse. It's the only way to get snails to vote for a mound of salt as their political rep.

And you think Twitter isn't big corp? You think big pharma, who are making record profits (in the billions) from vaccines this year, aren't benefiting from censoring anything that could affect their bottom line as "dangerous misinformation"? You think that the interests of big tech, big corp, big pharma, and government, all being completely aligned on censorship and "misinformation" is a good thing? Beneficial to society? Can't possibly go wrong?

I don't give a fuck about MTG or what she thinks. The alternate universe you're talking about is one where information is democratized instead of being gated by the data barons of the institutional narrative. The difference between us and them is that we don't seek to censor, and we encourage doing your own research and coming to your own conclusions. Meanwhile the data barons are writing articles about how critical thinking is dangerous and the science can't be questioned.

I stand for the rights of the free exchange of ideas for anyone, regardless of their backing or ideology. Has nothing to do with D or R. They are both running on the same platform of "not the other" and don't give a single fuck about you or I.

I don't support MTG at all, she represents everything I hate pretty much, but it's insane how many bootlickers are like "why is she allowed to be in government?? She's too toxic for Twitter but not for US government!".

She's not governing. She's trolling. She and others like her are political entertainers who are very well funded for that task of misleading people. She's literally a shill for a few rich people who previously supported Trump and his antics. She also works against the interests of the 99% and those who elected her, and is one of the most dishonest, ugliest individuals on the Hill, ahead of impressive completition for that distinction.

Yes, 100% agree.

What's so bad about her. Mean tweets like Trump did? Who cares.

This isn't about meanness. Large groups of people in the US believe the lies, disinformation and misinformation she is spreading on the behalf of Big Corp.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

direct opposite, she's right but millions believe big corp

her job is being mean about it which instinctively makes you think she's wrong

Follow the money. One reason we know we cannot trust her (& Trump and other snake oil salespeople) more than we can trust people who work with facts and science is because what she lies about actively helps Big Corp at the expense of the 99%. Some of the problems with anonymous donations:

I was glad to read that Twitter finally banned that COVID19 misinformation spreading bitch. She had multiple strikes for spreading misinformation.

It's interesting that Twitter have a 3 strikes and your out policy on covid but not in anything else, like calling men in dresses men.

You'll get a strike for calling Catlin Jenner Bruce Jenner.

Yeah censor them all if I don't like them. MTG is a politician, and politicians will say most anything for a vote, that's what they do. She said things that goes against the official narrative like Dr. Robert Malone and many others. So truth be damned, as well as the First Amendment and cancel them all. Another victory comrade!

Politicians who repeatedly tell lies in order to spread false information that will harm their voters, small businesses, and the country in general are genuinely trying to cause harm. For example, Trump's false or misleading claims total 30573 over 4 years. What has that done for the US? There are now large portions of the US who believe in practices and politicians who have and will destroy much of the lives of the 99%.

[–]thoughtcriminal 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Politicians who repeatedly tell lies

You could have just said politicians.

Remember when Adam Schiff (D) objectively lied to the American people multiple times about having evidence of direct of ties between Trump and Russia. When questioned under oath he said the opposite. Why is he still allowed on twitter? That seems like pretty dangerous misinformation given the current political climate. Remember when he doxxed a journalist? Remember when he lied about Russia again just this last November?

Remember Russiagate? Remember when the FBI bugged the Trump campaign based on the Steele Dossier which was known to be false at the time they used it as an excuse to bug the Trump campaign?

Why are all the people involved in this still on Twitter?

Remember when they lied about Trump saying fine people on both sides? Remember when they lied about Trump saying you should inject bleach? Remember when they lied about Trump firing tear gas at people for a photo op? Remember when they lied about 5 people dying on Jan 6?

Remember when they told us the summer of 2020 was mostly peaceful when more people died in those riots than all black people killed by cops in the entire year prior? Remember when Trump was banned from Twitter for "inciting violence" in his tweet that told people to act peacefully and go home? Remember when the Hunter laptop story was silenced because it was "stolen" or "hacked" when it was actually legally obtained?

Remember when they lied about Sandmann? Rittenhouse?

Remember when Biden promised in his campaign that he would never do vaccine mandates? Remember when Pelosi said they don't have the authority to do vaccine mandates? Remember when Fauci said vaccine mandates were unethical and if someone refuses the vaccine that's the end of the conversation? Remember when Fauci said masks don't help? Remember when Fauci said masks help? Remember when Fauci said 2 masks isn't better than 1? Remember when Fauci said 2 masks are better than 1? Remember when Fauci claimed there was no gain of function research at Wuhan? Remember when the NIH claimed there was?

Remember when they told us ivermectin is just horse dewormer? Remember when the Lancet published a fraudulent paper on hydroxycloroquine?

Remember when the WHO said covid doesn't spread person to person? Remember when Pelosi said to go into chinatown at the beginning of the pandemic? That sounds like it qualifies as dangerous misinformation.

Remember when Kamala encouraged Americans to not get vaccinated because it was the "Trump vaccine"? I guess that one is only okay if you're in the right political party.

Remember 15 days to slow the spread? Remember when we were told life would go back to normal after 2 jabs? After 3? After 4? Daily pills?

If you're going to play this game there won't be many politicians or institutions left on social media.

That article from the Washington Post supports my comment on the behavior of politicians and is a hit piece on POTUS 45. If, as you claim, there are large portions of the country that believe the political 'narrative' then this article is a black pill for those that don't. https://thefreethoughtproject.com/poll-40-percent-americans-justify-violence-against-government

[–]dingoatemytaco 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Perhaps I was not clear. Trump and MTG and others have been pushing a narrative of lies that harm a large portion of the US. Indeed the polls showing that some of those people want a violent revolution (eg. the boomers who sit at home on their retirement checks that we'll never see and are happy to answer polls) is evidence that the lies are working. They are making people believe in false narratives.

[–]nolocus 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

I'm trying to say that all politicians lie and make outrageous statements for votes, red or blue. You and others claim that POTUS 45 and MTG are harming a large portion of the country. Is that as bad as POTUS 46 and Congressmen saying they'd use the military against citizen militias? That is about as ridiculous as anything that came out of 45's mouth. I'm not red or blue, I vote for whom I please and not along party lines. Covid has become a tool used to control the masses and I avoid the propaganda whenever possible. I pay the price for that, but It's my body and my life, not the governments'. The jab is a personal choice, not something mandated by authoritarians.

I see this argument regularly on Saidit and I share everyone's concerns about corruption on the Hill &c. Problem is that we should see that the most corrupt of this group (especially in the GOP) have a very long track record of it, whereas there are a few who are actively trying to pass bills that could benefit the 99%.

Covid has become a tool used to control the masses

This has become a kind of catch-phrase, whereas there is absolutey no evidence for it. There is also a long history of virology that should be considered.

The jab is a personal choice, not something mandated by authoritarians.

If however you want to work among others in a society, you would naturally choose to get the jab and not help spread the virus. One's government is indeed mandated by voters to keep voters safe. And those who are unvaccinated can stay indoors until or unless they are willing to get vaccinated and thereby join others.

Glad to see you are concerned about corruption the Hill. Problem is government corruption is systemic, Federal to Local to one degree or another. The State I reside in was founded on corruption, it's in the history books. Read a book written by a freedom fighter during the Nazi occupation or a person residing in a Soviet Bloc county in the 60's and you will see near exact comparisons to this vaccine mandate nonsense. The MO is the same, confuse, divide, and destroy those who won't comply with the fear narrative. The vaccine is NOT a end all-be all solution government says it is, we are all different and unique. Look to people qualified to opine on the vaccines, like the inventor of mRNA technology and not a talking head on TV or an influencer on social media and maybe it'll bring a better understanding of the fear porn behind the virus.

Good, that loser is a Zionist who scapegoats Christians and Indo-Europeans.
