It is not the philosophy that is important. It’s the application of logic to non-mathematical ideas.

That's sort of what "common core" is supposed to be doing, but I think they are missing the point. I remember back in the 3rd or 4th grade when the teacher taught about visual perspective and thinking about what was going on with things we couldn't see directly but could observe in other ways, like the mechanics of ocean waves.
