Something very wrong with a culture that can't distinguish between the nude human form and pornography.

I agree. Its a damn shame what is happening. The tranny extremists started porning up the kids, and the response is a reactionary movement towards puritanism, neither of which I am particularly a fan of. It feels like the country is being held hostage by a standoff between opposing zealots with really extreme authoritarian ideas

Done by design, as is tradition. Just trade out extremes on any issue.

Nah the Americans have been like this for years. This ain't the first time a statue of David has caught the ire of prudes there.

In reality both these extremes are people who are so utterly uncomfortable with the physical reality of sex that they've gone loony. They both want to pretend it doesn't exist.

^ Yeah, this. They are both totally obsessed with sex stuff to the point of total neurosis, and in denial of reality

There is only one extreme. You're showing that extreme with this important news story. The extreme end of this is 3 parents causing the removal of a school principle because of their EXTREME opinions about a sculpture. The principle, teachers, school, library books, classes, etc. are not extreme or at fault in any way whatsoever. And this christo-fascist minority fucking up the lives of others is becoming a global problem. Those fascists are the only extreme. Sorry - I feel really strongly about this, and it's why I appreciate you sharing this news. We should highlight these abuses more often.

/u/dicknipples is 110% a fan of "porning up the kids".

You don't think teaching kindergartners there is 30 genders is extreme? I'm confused

[–]dicknipples 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

kindergartners

30 genders

These are the assumptions of extremists. I hear this kind of argument from an older, close family friend who only watches Fox. She defines abortion as: giving birth to a healthy baby and then immediately killing it. She defines teachers as groomers. She defines anything left of fascism as extremist.

This extremist attack against the school by 3 parents is unrelated to kindergartners or the notion of teaching 30 genders, or indeed the dangers of reading a book about Rosa Parks (continuously banned in Florida and elsewhere).

6th graders (11 - 12 year-olds) were shown a sculpture of Michelangelo's David. The other 2000+ parents of the students were not bothered in the least, perhaps because they know their kids aren't think about sex when they see a naked person. To assume this is itself a form of pedophilia: the assumption that children have adult sexual interests. Kids are curious about nudity, but they - before the age of 15 or 16 - are NOT turned on by it, at least not in the way adults are. Jean Piaget explained this rather well in the mid-20th century. Pedophiles do however assume that children have sexual desires. That's extreme, as is this attack by 3 pedophile-minded parents.

Yes, I am in total agreement about the fascism of the right about anything sex related, no argument from me.

However, I do think that teaching non-scientific gender ideology to young grade schoolers is ideological indoctrination (not grooming, grooming is when you indoctrinate someone and try to fuck them yourself) in the same way as if the Christians wanted to teach Intelligent Design instead of evolution. Both are based on an ideology rather than any sort of objective science. This is extreme ideology based rhetoric and has no place in schools in my mind.

Now a further problem I see, is that doubling down on this nonsense has riled up the Christians and made them more obsessively bigoted against homsexuals and gay marraige than they were before. The reaction to this extreme woke ideology is a reactionary turn towards puritanism, because the magatards now think gay marriage and naked people are a slippery slope to trans ideology, many users here have made this argument to me. In my mind this is definiitly contributing to more radicalism of the type we do not like to double down on this woke bullshit

tranny extremists

The governor and his supporters are attacking schools, teachers, libraries, gays, and everything that is not part of their christo-fascist agenda. No evidence of 'porning up kids', IMO. Consider the other 49 states, for example - well - with the exception of the sister-fucking states.

Are you sure you aren't a fan of "porning up the kids"?

It's a natural reaction to the actual pornography being brought into schools.

Also something very wrong with attacks on schools, teachers, libraries, women's rights, human rights, and the other christo-fascist-led attacks in Florida. What a shithole, and the Governor promoting all of this could be the next president.

All it took was three parents complaining about the statue to get her pushed out of the job and she was only in the job for a year. The "outrage" is clearly fake and gay. She should've never resigned and had them fire her.

But it'd be fine if it was Drag Queen Art History Hour

Those same sixth graders can move to leftist-run State regimes that would protect their "right" to choose self-mutilation and pick another gender. Surely viewing clay busts would inspire a yearning for some personal, medical-grade sculpture... no?

It's funny to imagine an artist delicately sculpting the pubic hair and genitals of a stone statue.
Bringing that vision to life.

I'd agree that this wasn't a proper topic for 6th graders. I'd say 8th graders, minimum....so it isn't super far off, per se.

When it comes to art, there is always people who want to creepily focus on inappropriate art, as there are many forms of art to every extreme. Of course, people try to be very accepting of art, but some people see that as an invitation to get creepy.
