I didn't buy into the premise that Musk was particularly concerned with free speech even as I viewed his takeover of Twitter as useful. Regrettably the platform seems to have been returned to the radical left. This likely means the suppression of all speech that doesn't conform to whatever is being pushed at the moment.

So in effect nothing was lost in the long run, except for Elon spending $44 million for us to freely shitpost for a few weeks.

I'd mostly stopped using twitter and I can go back to not using twitter again. Hell, I found out about turbo-shitposters on Fedi because of it, so I consider it a win at least.

He's been up front about this. He's complying with the will of the people of Turkey as expressed in their national laws. His choice is to break the law and everyone in Turkey loses access to Twitter, or do some minor banning and everyone else can still communicate and coordinate there.
