This nature.com article described the broad spectrum antiviral properties of Ivermectin on RNA viruses such as Zika, dengue, yellow fever, West Nile, Hendra, Newcastle, Venezuelan equine encephalitis, chikungunya, Semliki Forest, Sindbis, Avian influenza A, Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome, Human immunodeficiency virus type 1, and severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. Furthermore, there are some studies showing antiviral effects of ivermectin against DNA viruses such as Equine herpes type 1, BK polyomavirus, pseudorabies, porcine circovirus 2, and bovine herpesvirus 1. This study found Ivermectin blocks a transport within human cells that is critical for virus entry into the cell nucleus and therefore prevents mechanisms neccessary for viral replication. I think perhaps most importantly is that it's an extremely well tolerated medicine. And cheap. Even if it didn't work there'd still be no reason not to use it if the patient wanted it, or the doctor thought it had a snowball's chance of helping slightly. Or just to see if it helped anyways.

Searching for this yields only statements debunking this as false, and zero of the original reports. You draw your own conclusions. For my part, I remember quite clearly that it was all very legitimate import/export data.

Given that covaids was a complete hoax from the beginning, arguments about treating colds with this or that medication along with the gain of function research stuff would seem to be an unnecessary distraction that only helps the bad guys.
