I remember watching that on the news as it was happening, I don't think it was fake or that commenter was lying. It's the CSI effect, people think a police cordon is like what they see in the movies, but really unless you're smack dab in the action, you're likely not to notice.

I thought it strange that two guys could be laying down more than a thousand rounds of 7.62mm armor piercing ammunition in a Hollywood strip mall and only two civilians were injured by gunfire. That shit has a lethal range of several miles and it should have been ripping through the walls of buildings like they were made of paper.

I was actually a teller at that bank and the robbery definitely wasn't faked. Nor was the shootout because I was one of the responding officers. Really crazy how my shifts aligned that day. You can trust me btw I am some rando on the internet.
