I doubt it. The article takes forever to get to the point though. Person was threatening people with a fire arm before the incident, or at least they were reported as doing so.

Now me I'd be like yeah, someone going around pointing guns at people, take their guns away until you can determine whether or not the report is accurate, this is Texas though so good luck with that, the crazy types will try to claim persecution even if they are guilty and they'll have the 2nd amendment types rally to the cause.

I mean you need to have probable cause and all that. How many police reports about this person were actually filed. What evidence did they have?

From the police point of view, are these women giving legit reports, or are they ganging up on someone they hate. I've had to deal with groups of women in neighborhoods before ganging together and basically sharing gossip about the person in the neighborhood they don't like. Sometimes they're right on the money, person is a danger a drug dealer or something. Sometimes they are paranoid and chasing at phantoms. Hard to tell which is which unless you've got solid evidence.

I believe the stories in this case they make sense. We've got a violent psychopath that showed signs of violence before. We can have a discussion on when and where it's appropriate for the police to take action. I'd say pointing a weapon at someone without any just cause is that point. Yelling profanities at someone for just walking by? Dunno.
