Laws are written for the highest bidder, this why lobbying exists. A true egalitarian state is unlikely, and may not even be pleasant if implemented poorly by enforced means such as socialism or communism, but something close to egalitarian is fairly possible within a free and democratic process. Although it's just as likely that an egalitarian system break down by the will of the people. Instead of fighting for equality, which evidently just caused more inequality by skewing policy toward some random allegedly impoverished minority group, it would be best to focus on what solutions can be implemented to reduce inequality.

Sadly i can't go into the details, though.
