Great to see everyone regrouping here so rapidly.

My mod account was banned and I assume all the others were as well. I wonder to what extent, if any, the regular contributors were banned.

Contacting everyone manually seems like too much effort, someone needs to write a script message all these users on reddit if their accounts still exist.

This makes me wonder about the extent to which actually just recruiting people straight from reddit could work.

My account was shadowbanned towards the end; I think it had something to do with linking to saidit - others here have had similar experiences. Very difficult to tell people about alternatives when the links get deleted or you get banned just for posting them!

I haven't gotten banned on Reddit. Even so, theres not much point hanging around there. They removed most of the forums I was subscribed to, so its really boring.

I wasn't banned but anything I try to do is heavily censored. Pretty much useless account now.

I'd appreciate anyone that can write up how to run these scripts, ideally from some common free language like python or bash or something.

    How were you able to fetch usernames from comments? I'm the person that made the archive btw, so I would be interested to know so I can do it for other subs.

    This:

    grep -roh 'user/[0-9A-Za-z_-]*\.html'

    Just text searches for links to users in all files. Some of them don't work (if the user has not posted a thread), but the links are there attached to each comment. The rest of the command just formats it nicely and counts the number of links to each user before sorting.

    Ah I get it, so you basically search in every file of the archive for a /user/user.html mention (even inside comment files), then fetch it, right?
