That is a good idea. Do that to prepare a lifeboat.

Meanwhile, know that we are working on a better long-term open solution (/s/Cassy), for your consideration...

In one week the Cassandra Team will have 2 servers and 2 proxies in the cloud and setup and federate 3 Lenny (Lemmy without SJW censorship) instances (1 on an indie-server*).

The binary star will have the main site on one server and a second instance on another server to be backup, and hopefully in time can be filtered for better elevated discourse without spam, shills, trolls, and bots. The proxies will hide these servers from attacks, just as SaidIt has set up.

Orbiting the binary star will be less-powerful indie-servers, strong-servers, home PCs, etc. that join the decentralized federation and backup and share the databases. Anyone anywhere can set these up and participate in co-hosting their community to secure its resilience, survival, and longevity.

We were going to start slow and sure and test and test and test. But recent events have created a sense of urgency, and then with SaidIt down we decided to go into full triage mode. We're building it on the cloud first and can spread out after, instead of the opposite way by starting with our indie-server*.

* The little indie-server suffered a power blip when lightning struck nearby, so the new TOR forum was out for a few hours last night. This is another example of why we need the corporate cloud. But we cannot trust the cloud completely so indie-servers are just as critical.

I will be covering the start up costs and will soon set up and share some ways to accept donations and be as transparent about the accounting as possible. Prepare to either help me with this burden or listen to me whine endlessly about it.

Fair warning:
Lenny/Lemmy will be very disappointing to you and to me. It's a much simplified Reddit-like forum that won't have all the features of SaidIt. (Thus we're setting up several redundant platforms for a variety of options.) However, it is decentralized and it has many developers, and SaidIt had a few but now has none. It will grow. We can build up donation-trusts for code-bounties to pay coders to build us the new features we want to see developed. We can prioritize them in whatever way we like. We do not have to deal with the bottleneck of a single owner, as SaidIt was limited by magnora7 (I hope he's well).

Donations and setup aside, here's what I want from your sub-community...

I want you to come up with your ideal social management systems. IMO these are the fundamentals, but feel free to share your ideas to improve things.

1) PURPOSE: I want a purpose / manifesto / constitution / mission statement. Whatever you call it, this is your foundation. It can be a living, evolving document but this is your core. Everything else will be critically measured against this, including the evolution of changes to this founding document.

2) RULES: I want as few rules as possible. Solid HARD rules that are crystal clear and non-negotiable. (ie. No porn. No advocating violence. No illegal shit. No jeopardizing the community nor the leaders, hosts, etc.)

3) GUIDES: I want as many guidelines and examples as are necessary to help clarify parts of the vast grey areas. I consider the Pyramid Of Debate a fantastic guide but a lousy rule as it's interpretation is vague and arbitrary.

4) CLEANUP: I want you to come up with a way for you to select a trusted-team of the best of your community. Think of these as the "elders of your tribe". How you select them is up to you. They can be moderators and/or delegate that task to others who can deal with obvious cleanup of the spam, shills, trolls, and bots - a thankless but critically necessary task. The trusted-team will watch and maintain their own group as well as the community and the community will watch and speak to them them too. Obvious cleanup is not controversial, but all conflicts and drama will be dealt with in one place and whatever fair judicial process the trusted-team comes up with is how they will openly hear people out fairly and manage them. Expect "victims" and crowds with bloodlust to try to manipulate, spin, and timesuck.

5) MORE: I want YOU ALL to impress me with a presentation of, and by, and for, OUR new community platforms. I want you to have a BIG say in your own community. I want you to bring me new ideas that may improve things. I want your feedback on my ideas and on this opportunity.

6) DESIGN: As a graphic designer, I want your ideas for anything related to the new site, to SaidIt, and especially related to self-regulating self-administration. For example, I revised the Pyramid Of Debate design and there's no reason we can't have many guides like this, whether in a hierarchy, a political spectrum, Venn diagram, or whatever conveys the concept clearly. To be clear, making our new site is NOT my top priority.

To be clear and to put Larry's mind at rest, he is running HIS phpBB forum on HIS terms. He is free to employ as much or little of these ideas as he sees fit on HIS forum. Similarily, on MY forum, I will be chosing to reach a consensus among my trusted-team on how we run things. I may technically own it but I will never consider it "mine". I have zero interest in moderating anyone, but I have great interest in setting up a self-regulating self-moderating community with solid foundations. Of course YOU can run your own instance any way you want on your gear. I welcome it and really hope you do.

I welcome you to participate and accept this challenge, and define your own destiny, rather than be subject to whatever admin or owner limitations are forced upon you.

I may edit this over time.

I saw this as an opportunity to get all this out of my head and make this a first draft of sorts. I aim to also present this again to the larger SaidIt community, hopefully with additions, insights, and revisions inspired by your feedback.

You're kind of hijacking a thread that was about something else but I'll allow it since the Cassy project (and all future anti fragile free speech social media) is very relative to DAR.

In the future just let me know if you have an important announcement. I don't mind pinning it on the sub.

It wasn't meant to be a hijack, nor an announcement. I saw this single post with no comments on /s/All and didn't realize there was a thread.

It's an option for your DAR community.

It's a complex idea, and this is the first time I've mentioned it openly. Sorry for sticking my big fat toe in to test the waters with you. I don't know if you are the biggest community on here but you seem solid with strong values that may help make clear decisions rather than amorphous vageries that lead no where. That clarity can be good for building upon.

You can do it yourselves or you can participate on TruthSeeker.Party when it's up.

Before we just open the floodgates on a new forum I want to hear ideas about self-regulating communities. Maybe yoru community has no interest in such a thing.

I'm also interested in hearing ideas from other communities across the spectrum. It would be nice to have communities select from template fundamentals, with some room to fine tune. Those templates won't make themselves. Common elements within the templates can become universal rules (ie. site-wide). If there are different universal rules then they can be applied to different federations too. I'm trying to think beyond just our project but also with the hopes that we can change social media management in general, if perhaps only the decentralized and "free".

I expect SaidIt to go down again in a few weeks, and may come back a few days later. Perhaps by that time our SaidIt and DAR and other communities can have mustered together some community designed self-regulating policies to impress us enough to keep the TruthSeeker.Party open.

The name Cassy fortells something bad in Greek mythology. Try a better name?

Cassandra is the prophet of truth and doom that was not believed and the City of Troy burned down as foretold.

People on SaidIt, and before it even existed, have been warning of the tyranny rising and now that lockdown is here the masses still won't listen. /s/VaccineInjuries will be followed by the global /s/FoodCrises. You guys know this, yet fight about race and politics and gender and stuff. Those are important but divisions are distractions by design and there are MUCH bigger threats coming from the ruling class Zionist corporatocracy. The biggest economic /s/Collapse is about to really fuck shit up.

You should see by now that race is the central and preeminent issue in the world, especially now that White countries have massive diversity. A White ethnostate wouldn't have food shortages.

But who is pushing this agenda of chaos and conflicts? The top level problems are the ruling class Zionists (of all races and religions) and their corporatocracy, including lots of (((them))), but the rest of their (((tribe))) is mostly just brainwashed sheeple too, thought the superiority/victim culture and scripture are certainly a problem - that not all of them subscribe to.

A White ethnostate wouldn't have food shortages.

Not sure about that. My parents are white, my neighbourhood is mostly white. I can't rely on them for shit if my life depended on it. The Zionist media has most of them a well trained debt slaves oblivious to the coming global disaster of the GREAT RECETSION.

[–]peaceful 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

The conflict and chaos is a natural end result of the ideology called anti-racism. In an ethnostate some families might be poor and not have enough, but there would be no national starvation since White countries are so prosperous.

...As their "leaders" allow it to be.

I checked, I don't use Ruqqus normally but I do have an account there and it's subbed.
