I've recently taken to browsing the Russian language Wikipedia to get a more detailed reading on Russian inventories and tech.
I read their article on the Wehrmacht and noticed some interesting differences with the English article.
The largest is that there's almost no reference to the holocaust, Einsatzgruppen, and other atrocity propaganda or Nazi Aryan ideology. In a several thousand word article there is only one sentence referring to the arrest of Jews, no mention of holocaust. Plus a few lines about Hoepner calling on troops to fight Jewish bolshevism and Manstein approving of the Einsatzgruppen as rightful revenge against the Jews who are the architect of Bolshevism (which is 100% true btw).
See the contrast in the English article where the war crimes section is likely the largest part of the entry and is full of muh holocaust, hate against Jews, genocide, and resistance to Nazism.
The Russian article in contrast is somewhat defensive of the honor of the Wehrmacht, stating that it was generally apolitical and protested brutal policies. The English article on the other hand tries to maximize the blame on the German army.
The Russian article has practically nothing about the holocaust but its main gripe is that Germans treated Russian prisoners with cruelty.
The English article has almost zero praise for the Wehrmacht. It generally tries to underwrite its achievements and highlight failures.
The Russian article is full of high praise for the Wehrmacht and even has detailed sections on German offensive, defensive and retreat tactics. At a glance, one would think this was the work of some fawning western right-wing guy.
The Russian article is far more detailed and has rich graphs and numbers on things one would want in an article on the Wehrmacht: Strength over time, losses, organizational structure, strategic planning, and so on.
The English article is bereft of useful information and poor in numbers. It's all about muh holocaust, Wehrmacht was overrated, historical revisionism, resistance to Nazism, etc.
When you read the Russian article, you cannot but help feel that the authors have a deep respect and even admiration for the German army. They dislike Hitler and correctly point to him being a leading cause behind Germany's failures.
And in addition, there is some usual bravado about Russian prowess and picking quotes from German generals about the ferocity and courage of the Russian soldier. However, such sentiments were shared widely by German generals ranging from Guderian to Kleist and Manstein among others.
Its ironic how the Russians who lost tens of millions to German action have more respect and admiration for the Germans than the English and Americans who lost so much less.
