This isn't news. Anti-refugee sentiment is rampant in Turkey.

The social democratic and pro-EU CHP and their current allies?

Looks to me like the CHP's gain in polls is because of Covid. Erdogan has the same problem that befell Trump and Morrison and will probably also lead to Bolsonaro's defeat. The last time Erdogan's People's Alliance won a poll was in June last year, which is exactly the time when Covid was making inroads.

One thing that just came to mind is that the CivNat MHP is in Erdogan's alliance. I have no idea why they went along with this... unless they simply value the alliance with Erdogan's AKP too much.

I also have no idea why Erdogan keeps these people. I suppose there's a possibility that the somewhat more Islamic Turks who support Erdogan are more interested in helping fellow Muslims whereas less religious ones might see themselves as having less in common with other Muslim peoples.

I think that AKP+MHP (People's Alliance) is far better than CHP+whatever (Nation Alliance). For starters, if the Nation Alliance parties regain power, they'll want to bring Turkey into the EU. We would have already had Turkey in the EU for years if either Erdogan and friends didn't turn against it or if the CHP were in power during that time. Interestingly, what is perhaps the closest thing to an actual NazBol party today, the Patriotic Party, seems to be Erdogan-leaning. They're also pro-DPRK, pro-Putin, anti-Ukraine, pro-Iran and pro-China. Some evidence of the horseshoe theory?

It looks like we're seeing the same kind of alliance that appeared in Hungary in their attempt to get rid of Orban, but this time it will succeed. All of the pro-EU parties stacked together look to have 49.94% against the People's Alliance's 34.87%. A lot of Turkey's worst parties are in that group.

The CHP totally abandoned Kemalist nationalism and are just a Westernized, mainstream social democratic party. IYI, DEVA and Demokrat are all pro-EU liberal or centrist parties. That just leaves the Felicity Party, a small Islamist party which opposes Erdogan on the grounds that he's only performatively Islamic. These fools are getting played hard if they think that they won't be immediately sidelined by a government composed of the other parties in their coalition.
