Great video about the world's biggest and best-run animal shelter

This is the wonderful Tierheim in Berlin. One of the reasons I show you this -- besides being an animal lover -- is because most of the laws that offer animal protection in Germany were implemented by the Nazis. In fact, they've somewhat softened the laws since 1945. I often wonder how far Hitler would have gone to protect animals. There's the rumor that he wanted to shut down industrial meat production after the war. Even though I love eating meat, I can understand why you want to shut it down, especially if you see some of the footage of what goes on in those slaughterhouses.

There's the rumor that he wanted to shut down industrial meat production after the war.

He planned to convert Germany to being vegetarian according to Goebbels' diaries.

It certainly would have been better for the animals and the biosphere as a whole. However, meat -- especially liver -- is an excellent source of iron, which vegetarians often have a deficiency in.
