I tried clicking the link in the sidebar to read what the Daily Stormer thought about the alt-right. As far as I can tell the Daily Stormer has been removed from the web by semi-legal harassment, so I will fall back on a resource I don't like -- namely Rational Wiki. I don't endorse RationalWiki but (to the best of my very limited knowledge) it is the only encyclopedia that mentions the alt-right, so I will throw it out there and you guys can kick it around or praise it as you like.
I have been reading various alt-right guys for years (back in the days when using NRX for "neoreactionary" was considered fresh). I suspect I have a loose grasp on what this group regards as "alt-right." Probably the most notorious core consists of a few popular micro-celebrities like Andrew Anglin and some larger e-celebs like Milo and Curtis Yarvin. But there are also a lot of other folks who might be in or out of the alt-right set. These guys are important thinkers and their thoughts are relevant, regardless of whether they are in or out.
Let me name a few e-celebs off the top of my head:
Nick Land - I regarded this guy as the core of the NRX alt-right ten years ago; he might be irrelevant now
Curtis Yarvin - He is probably still writing, but I don't read him or keep up with him
Andrew Anglin - I can't read his writing. He seems to be a bad writer as far as I can tell
Milo Yiannopoulos - I have never actually noticed his writing, but everyone gossips about how gay he is.
Steve Sailer - popular, probably does not call himself alt-right
Paul Craig Roberts - probably too old and traditional to be "alt" but definitely "right"
Ron Unz - probably widely considered to be part of the alt-right
Jared Taylor - probably a typical alt-right figure
Nick Fuentes - I have often heard his name but I have never paid much attention to him because I have never noticed him saying anything that seemed particularly noteworthy or insightful
Richard Spencer - basically he promoted alt-right until the left noticed him and sued/harassed him into oblivion, and now claims that he is not alt-right because lawsuits and illegal harassment from leftists have destroyed his life and he has few tenable strategies
There are e-celebs who have some historical connection to NRX but who seem to be politically irrelevant and therefore not really alt-right. Paul Elam and the old "manosphere" crowd used to be alt-right, but the times have moved on and I think they are footnotes to history at this point.
There are a LOT of writers who are relevant but clearly not part of the alt-right. Michael Hudson and David Graeber are important thinkers but very left. Eliezer Yudkowsky is (I suspect) loyal mostly to himself, not to left or right politics.
But then there are some difficult-to-classify cases. Consider Kevin MacDonald. He is relevant to the alt-right, but he doesn't seem to fit the mold. I think he's more like a far-right version of Paul Craig Roberts, and thus too old to be "alt" even if he is very "right." E. Michael Jones writes stuff that the alt-right enjoys reading, but I don't sense that he's really part of it.
If anyone has comments I will try to read then immediately. I will try to respond in a timely fashion this week.
