If you ever have a liberal that uses this quote they are making a HUGE concession that republicans don't actually help white people. That's a really good starting point for a convo.

A good rebuttal to the above quote is to tell liberals that the democratic party hasn't done anything good for blacks so blacks voting democrat are voting against their interest (they might even agree with you). I'd also ask which party has come out in support of white people? Which party openly panders to whites and says it's going to help them? (they'd struggle to answer that and if they said republican you'd easily have a lot of evidence to use to open a dialogue that republicans don't help whites either; just pander to them which is related to the original point/concession they just made). The reality is neither party helps whites).

The real goal here is to demoralize dems and convince them that both parties don't help white or black people. If you can get a liberal in that head space you can get them to become independent or at least get them to look into alternative politics and that's a huge win.

It's probably not a real quote.

It first appeared in Washington Post in 1980s written by some guy who insisted LBJ told him privately in some hotel. It's completely out of character for LBJ. This is a guy who was bragging about the size of his dick and regularly called black "niggers" behind closed doors. It's very unlikely he would use the term "colored man" in private conversation.

Although that statement has aged poorly from the PC standpoint, the concept of it still holds true.

Different times, and different things were acceptable.

Quotes like this, in empty air like this, are pretty meaningless. A man can say anything about anything and be quoted, but it really doesn't give the content of the quote any real world value:

"Turn a rabbit upside and a UFO will give you $50."
-NastyWetSmear, 2024.

It's nonsense, but it's a quote now. Does it add anything or promise anything? Is it true simply because it was said?

I'm not even sure what the quote is suggesting. Obviously it sounds racist, as it's pinpointing white people specifically as if being gullible, proud or haughty are traits solely based on skin colour, but I'm not really sure what it's meant to mean. What is the suggested intent? What am I meant to understand or believe from it?

johnson is saying that lower or working class Whites who vote for Republicans or other parties that are "right wing" on economic issues (that he and his party believed almost exclusively benefits the wealthy) out of racial prejudice for non Whites. He considers his parties economic polices like universal healthcare, welfare, state housing and pensions etc is in the working class Whites interests.

He's welcome to say that, but his quote doesn't even actually suggest that. Rather it suggests that a white person could be robbed or tricked into giving money for something so long as they are told they are superior to black people... Which isn't, in so far as I know, a platform of the American Republicans and certainly isn't reflected in the current suggestions of donation amounts each party got.

I guess you'd need an American who is more interested in the specific politics of their parties to debate it more closely, but to me it seems like quoting any politician attempting to frame the other party as the enemy. It holds little more weight than people who said Michelle Obama was secretly trans, as if that would suddenly invalidate Obama as President - It's just a mean thing to say in the hope it stings enough that you'll do what they want.

Then tell the leftist you're a black woman. If they argue out-hysterics them. Honestly leftists don't reach the level of intelligence required for dialogue.
