If you want to reduce your appetite ADHD stimulants sound preferable to taking a diabetes drug that makes you overproduce insulin and gives you low blood sugar, but thats just me

This isn't the comment I requested.

Ok...well...it's a terrific idea, if you are overweight enough to consider Ozempic you are probably well on your way to type 2 diabetes anyway

[–]jet199[S] 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (3 children)

The opposite really. Blood sugar and blood pressure have always been on the low side.

I'm just still going through my midlife crisis.

I lost 15 pound already.

If your blood sugar is on the low side ozempic might make you pass out. I agree with Phooey that stims are a better idea, especially with low bp. Get some Adderall.

I lost 15 pounds already.

Then just keep doing what you're doing.

Joking aside, my honest opinion: If you have low blood sugar, Ozempic might not be the best idea. I would strongly consider the stims, especially since those tend to raise your blood pressure due to vasoconstricting effects, which for many people would be bad, but not for you. If you are choosing side effects for appetite suppression, given the few particulars I know of your biology (low blood sugar, low bp), I personally would opt for the stimulants if I was already decided on chemically intervening to lose a few pounds

I can confirm this as a viable option, if still not the best idea.

I would avoid all pharmaceutical products. They may seem like viable options, but increased physical activity, ketogenic, meat-only diet; eggs/protein work far better. I only eat eggs because I don't like meat. Then, walk/hike, jog/run, climb, swim, move, move, move. Get mad and work out, the drugs never end up worth it. Vanity and appearance aren't all they're cracked up to be, just get healthy/healthier and you'll feel more energetic, enthusiastic and this brings more natural activity and you don't have to try as hard. Good luck with any of your decisions, fitness can't be understated.

Nothing short gastric surgery works to lose weight and keep it off.

Only 1 in 300 people can lose a large amount of weight through any kind of diet and keep it off after 5 years.

What is the 5 year success rate of gastric bypass? It's not pretty.

well, good luck either way.

Gillian Anderson has Ozempic face too now.

I support you bro.

Good luck. It helps with other addictions as well.

Like posting on random internet forums

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

It is possible that human interaction on an anonymous Internet forum serves as some kind of dopamine hit.

I read about for only thirty minutes and it doesn't look like a bad idea to me, a layman. Isn't the BMI a poor method of labeling people overweight or not? I've read that some people, Brad Pitt in his prime for example, were considered too heavy using BMI only as a guide. Good luck to you on this and be sure to keep us informed along the way. I'll be out of the country for five weeks but if I can't log on, I will be reading.

[–]ID10T 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

It's a great general guideline that applies to most people who aren't weightlifters. You know if your BMI is high because you are the Rock. If you aren't, yeah you're just fat.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 3 fun2 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 3 fun -  (7 children)

I want take it too, but I'm sure you know the downsides. You could end up looking like Mary Kate and I think you're really pretty as is.

    That's just aging while thin.

You get to a certain age and it's wizen or widen.

Just realized "ozempic face" is a documented phenomenon, crazy shit. Doesn't seem worth it to use a drug to lose weight if it's gonna suck out your youth

Yeah, you can tell who lost weight on it cause their face looks fucked.

    [–]jet199[S] 3 insightful - 4 fun3 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 4 fun -  (2 children)

I have more than enough cheek to spare

Look how cute Erin Moriarty used to be.

There's also a trend of buccal fat removal surgery in Hollywood so it's not all weight lose making people look like that.

I think I actually have jowls right now so this doesn't worry me. It's not like I'm going to turn into a size 0 in a couple of months.

    [–]ShekelPa 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

No long-term data on its effects. Enjoy your pancreatitis.

    [–]ShekelPa 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The biggest red flag from this drug was the super high quality pamphlet that was made that the doctor showed me about it. If you have to try that damn hard to push a new experimental medication with no long-term effects, then you are questionable at best.

The mechanism of action of this drug is to interact with specific receptors.... the problem is that these same receptors exist in several other organs in the body... and we do not know what the long-term effects of this is.

But if you want to gamble with your health on a relatively experimental injection that was released last fall even after the bullshit that was the past 3+ years, then all power to you. Understand that pancreatitis is a side effect.

If you want to reliably lose hundreds of pounds, eat low-glycemic-and-insulin-responsive foods in place of your high equivalents.

This will stabilize your insulin resistance enough to enable enhanced satiety and reduction in hunger intensity and frequency.

From there, challenge yourself to minimize eating frequency, this will also improve your insulin sensitivity. This, in turn, allows you to further reduce your daily meals/snack events, I am down to 1-2 a day from 6+.

From there, challenge yourself to eat dinner early and have breakfast late. This is what I did to enable a 14 hour time restricted eating regimen. This will ALSO improve your insulin sensitivity as evidenced by further reduction of hunger frequency and intensity and expansion of satiety. Eventually, this will enable you to push your dinner and breakfasts a lot better. I am now at 22 hours TRE.

Thus, I have engaged in a three-pronged approach toward maximizing insulin sensitivity that will stabilize hunger and satiety and give rise to counter regulatory hormones that excell in energy withdrawal and utilization from stored (endogenous) sources. This in turn eliminates the body's compensatory mechanisms to satisfy low-energy status by exogenous means (intense hunger, cravings) or by lowering metabolic rate.

Pair all this with a viable exercise regimen to further stimulate the GLUT 4 protein to uptake glucose into the cells from the blood, and you can expect to lose anywhere from 2-4 pounds without any pushback from hunger, overeating, etc.

How I'm losing the weight, slowly: drink more water, all the time, especially when hungry - and for the 18 hour fast (look it up), I only (try to) eat from 2pm to 8pm every day. It took years to pile on and it should take a long time to come off to avoid sagginess.

I'll bet the price for Ozempic spikes in the near future.

Save yourself a lot of pain by just switching to a low carb diet.

I don't remember you being that fat, jet. Don't go wild.

I never thought I'd say this phrase, but... Jason is right. If you lose weight too quickly past the age of like 35, you'll have a bunch of loose, saggy skin which is gross and kinda defeats the purpose if you want to lose weight (in part) to be hot. Plus you won't feel light and free like that.

If you're drinking ANY drinks with any added sugar, stop. Soda, lemonade, tea with sugar, all of it. Switch to unsweetened seltzers and herbal teas like chamomile and peppermint.

Are you on any medication right now? Medicines like hormonal birth control can and will make you fat since hormones control and coordinate the body's metabolism. Even fucking with just the sex hormones goofs everything up. I forget how old you are which would also help me tailor my advice.

But honestly the real secret to losing weight is adderall. Especially if you have low blood pressure and you're depressed. It was a game-changer for me, but came with the unfortunate side effect of turning me from skinny to skeletal. I am never hungry. I can only stomach one meal a day and drink meal replacement shakes to try and supplement.
