Finally got my veggie plants in the dirt.
submitted 9 months ago by Zapped from self.gardening
I got a couple of tomato plants and a few pepper plants. Serrano, Carolina Reaper, Ghost, and Tabasco. I put them all in large pots on the East side of the house so they won't get baked in the afternoon.

Peppers like relatively fertile soil in my experience. Really, it seems like they like a lot of everything... nutrients, sun, and water.

My jalapeños, bell peppers, and tomatoes didn't do well in full afternoon sun last year. Only when I moved them to afternoon shade did they take off. The banana peppers went crazy, though.

Yeah, this is definitely true of established plants. I actually went back and looked at my notes from when I grew them. I had a hard time getting them to germinate, so I went "all out," but peppers are not a full-sun plant.

We were just talking about this the other day! The consensus was that you should roast the chiles in vinegar and then (blend?) them?

A little vinegar, or lime juice, goes in, for the acidity, but it's not roasted in vinegar. I deseed the tomatoes, roast the tomatoes, onion, garlic, and peppers. The tomato skins get removed. It has to cool (hot stuff in a blender is no bueno without a vent), and blend it with cilantro. Then I tend to add some finely diced fresh tomatoes by hand also.
u/Zapped - we expect pics of your bounty.
