Fucking chat, how does it work?

And, y'know... DOES it? I see it as an option under "preferences", and it's enabled, but no sign of a chat icon anywhere. How do I start chatting? Is chat an existing SaidIt feature, or more like under construction/coming soon? Hopefully it's not something that's gone extinct?

Please help a Reddit refugee/SaidIt newbie out here!

it would be nice if there was a central chat for saidit.. maybe something like a discord?

We have a central chat it's in the box to your right. Each sub as well as "subscribed" and "all" I believe has a chatroom. It is IRC based and it used to be open to allowing people to connect through their own IRC clients but there was no demand at the time and noone used it so they closed that part down. If you want a central chat you should either just use the box on the right(click "chat in new tab" to open it fullscreen in your browser) or show your support in /s/IRC and to /user/magnora7 who I believe is the head admin and founder of the site to get it reopened for personal client connections.

Discord is proprietary spyware. Don't use it
