I'm a california pensioner collecting $1200 a month and last year my yearly raise was 3.2 % however my rent went up 12% plus the two bedroom flat I rent with another pensioner cost $1200 now and my fellow renter is 74 years old and not doing well so he's looking at a retirement home. I'm about to be homeless as I have not found a 1 room flat I can afford. Yes even out in the middle of the desert a 1 bed flat is over $1000 a month. I looked into living in a van but state laws mandate I have a physical address for my driving license and car registration and insurance so WTF am I suppose to do. I looked for well over an hour about this law and can not find an answer as to how people living in there cars do it OH and a used van cost over $6000 so I must finance that.

Any one living in there vehicle tell me how do you do it without a physical address for your driving license and car registration and insurance ?

UPDATE: someone contacted me and said I should get a virtual po box so I checked and it looks like I can go that route.

I looked into section 8, I meet the income requirements but it's a one year plus wait list. So living in a vehicle would be a quick solution but most states require a physical address and no PO box.

Homeless shelters in CA can also be used as a "permanent residence" for insurance and registration purposes.

What I do have is for myself and I don't have room to grow more. I have looked elsewhere and rent as about the same in other states, Living in a vehical would be best as no rent or utility bills. My 22 ft motorhome would be great but every state mandates a physical address for your driving license and car registration and insurance.

I don't know if the vehicle route is the right answer in general, but it shouldn't be illegal to lose a residence while having a driver's license. So I think that's really a non-issue.

Is there anything you can do to supplement your income? Maybe you can Uber. I looked it up. West Virginia has the cheapest rents at $846/mo. That's an average, not the floor. For context California is $1,927. So if the floor is about half the average in every state you might be able to get $423/mo in WV.

The weather is better than Death Valley. The best thing that could ever happen to California would be for it to be nuked. You might as well get out before the best could happen.

I'm not a church person as for finding another person that's a problem. Most I've met can't be trusted when looking into there background and yes I've been looking.

Well if there is it must be in the middle of death valley, 3 days looking and best I found was $1000 for a studio apartment.

My brother died 25 july 24 and he was the last family I had and at 71 most friends had left California some time back.

Post an add or ask around, roommate wanted ( + requirements ). You can not be the only person with this problem.

The other day a person checked the flat and my landlord thought he was a good choice however my background found he left the last flat owing 4 months back rent. Finding someone I can trust is not easy as most have a past they want to hide.

Maybe your landlord can half your rent and can arange the same for the other person. That way it is not your fault when he does not pay.

The landlord has been doing this, think what it would be like if a person moved in and they live like animals and never clean up anything or steal food from the kitchen.

A pensioner is a person who receives a pension, most commonly because of retirement from the workforce.

Sounds like youre narrowed down to a few choices. If I were in your situation, I would contact the nearest cartel and offer to sling some dope in your neighbourhood for them, but at a cost. Banks are still human operated, you could take some hostages and demand 100 thousand dollars and season tickets to the NhL franchise in you hometown; sell them Blowing dinky works for most junkies. Maybe get on junk and blow some dinky. Offer to pet sit cats. I dont see many other ways out of your predicamnt or even know how to spell pradicamint.
