Could be, but really I just want a flat tax. The rich should be paying at least the same rate as the poor. To have it the other way around is theft from those who need it most

The "rich" pay the overwhelming majority of the taxes which keep the country running.

They also make the overwhelming majority of the money, so that's perfectly fair. What they have left after taxes could buy the remaining 49% many times over. They still pay a lower tax rate than the middle class, which shouldn't be happening.

It's not about taking all their money. It's about Warren Buffet paying a tax rate at least as high as his salary.

Not to mention all the federally-funded corporate bailouts over the last 15 years. They're stealing from the poor to pay the rich. It's a fact.

Your military and government is 100% socialism in favour of the rich "capitalists", against the will of many.

http://represent.us has some information on the weirdness of the US laws (and taxes).

In the US the tax has all kinds of rules, designed by rich people, that allow certain tax-deductions for rich people. Especially the ultra-rich. This means that most tax is paid by the lower income people. And often this money is guided to the rich people again.

Often laws are introduced as something that most people agree with, but they are badly worded. These laws are then altered with just a few words to get a complete different meaning. This can be done without much effort and resistance. This makes it possible to introduce weird tax cuts for big companies, or ultra rich people. Or to start wars without any consent.

Agreed, we used to have an actual progressive tax (meaning the rich are taxed more than the poor) in the 1950s and then it became a flat tax, and now it's a regressive tax after the billionaires and corporations have spent 4 decades massaging and re-working the tax code to their benefit.
