Dems were always pro slavery in America, just like they are now via Communism. Not being able to control your work and reap the reward is slavery.

Self-employment is promoted under communism. I’m not a communist, but look up Juche in North Korea & similar concepts in the USSR...

You would get sent to the gulag etc if you refused work while on welfare. If you could prove self employment as a tradesperson etc, you were allowed to keep plying your trade

Pretty sure the Dems didn't support the slaves on plantations in Cuba prior to the revolution.
