So now, the US government is going to tell it's citizens what software can and can not be downloaded from other countries.

Not that I'm any fan of TikTok, but what comes next?

Agreed, this is a really bad precedent and opens the door to all kinds of abuse.

Nah. China steals over 600 billion dollars from America every year. The CCP is collecting data on our children. It needs to end.

The NSA is collecting data on practically every American, where is the outrage about that? If the government can tell you what apps you can install on your own device, and what services you can use, that is dystopian authoritarianism. If you're concerned about your kid's privacy, don't let them use TikTok (or Facebook, or Instagram, or twitter... probably shouldn't even have a smartphone).

This is a strawman argument. You assume that someone who criticizes Chinese spying supports American spying — when the obvious conclusion is that the person in question opposes all forms of spying.

And don't forget how they're using TikTok, Reddit, Snapchat, Discord, Fortnite, and so much more to push Communist propaganda. This is why far-leftists are rioting in the streets. This is why our country is falling apart. Spying is the least of our concerns — we're fighting for the survival of the American Nation.

Tik tok is the only one NOT pushing this race war bullshit.

Except that Trump is a Likudnik and Israel sends secret Us military blueprints to China.

[–]SaidOverRed 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Uh, any sauce for that transitive military secrets insinuation?

And anything by Grant F. Smith particularly his newest book and his book on NUMEC and Israel stealing nuclear triggers from the US in Pennsylvania causing an environmental hazard in the process and not only not having to pay the billions for it but getting away with it and having US citizens acting as collateral for the clean-up.

Israel is starting to side with multilateralists and the BRIC alliance and Belt Road is the future global economic order.

Israel has a long history of selling Us secrets to China. Any book written by Grant F. Smith is a MUST, if you are a patriotic American.

Hmm I found: "Concerned about China’s potential use of advanced airborne early-warning (AEW) radar systems, the United States dissuaded Israel from lucrative arms deals in 2000 and 2005, souring Chinese-Israeli security trade relations. No further sales of military technology between China and Israel have been reported since." which does not support the claim, but then: "The head of defense exports for the Israeli Defense Ministry resigned after a U.S. investigation concluded that technology, including a miniature refrigeration system manufactured by Ricor and used for missiles and in electro-optic equipment, was sent to China, according to the Israeli newspaper Maariv." from 2013 which does.

I'll look up that book I guess.

Israeli news will show that the do send weapons and secret US military blueprints to China. This is NOT a new thing. Israel did this throughout the 20th century.

Many websites and authors such as Alison Weir and Grant F. Smith write about this.

They could ban data collection, but they won't because it is not about data collection. This is about tik tok not being controlled by jews. They can't stand kids being exposed no non propaganda.

[–]Nanner 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Exactly. People should be outraged instead of eagerly giving up more rights.

Its also hindering communications from U.S. to China. They obviously cant have us freely communicating.

What comes next? Hopefully the reconquest of America. Hopefully we'll seize back our country from the Communist scum who have infiltrated our social sphere, our economy, and our government. Rioters are in the streets, our culture is degenerating, our jobs and money are flooding out of the country, and our Nation is dying. It's time to take America back.

But this probably won't be the case — because this ban is obviously just lip service. I'll give Trump credit, but Valorant — which includes kernel-level spyware — is a much larger concern, as well as Tencent's investments into Reddit, Discord, Snapchat, etc. since it uses these platforms to spread propaganda. Ever wonder why Reddit is full of Communists and why the admins are left-biased?

[–][deleted] 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (6 children)

Ban all Chinese Communist apps, games, websites, and companies! Seize Chinese-owned assets and shares! This goes nowhere near far enough. The Communists have taken over our country — and it's time we take it back.

Foreign governments shouldn't be pulling the strings of our media, our economy, and our government. We shouldn't be bowing down to foreign overlords and surrendering to a dictatorship a whole sea away our rights and freedoms.

If I was Trump we'd have a real trade war, not some skirmish. I will give him credit for this, though. It's a step in the right direction — but walking won't get us home before sunset.

[–][deleted] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

To elaborate, Valorant (the video game) is a much larger national security threat than TikTok. It literally forces you to install a kernel-level spyware that can monitor everything you do on your computer, and sends that information to servers in China.

[–]SaidOverRed 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Oh wow. https://www.thesixthaxis.com/2020/04/28/valorant-disable-uninstall-vanguard-anti-cheat-driver/

Yeah the solution is simple in those multiplayer games: just force-stream the player's side that the game shows to the matchmaking server. Then let opponents review it and submit. No spyware, just literally what the game doing and already communicating to the online servers.

[–]C3P0 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

That requires too much bandwidth. Maybe even 1000x the amount of bandwidth that is usually required. Also, a player with a bad connection could sometimes do things like clip through walls, kill you without even having vision of you. That's not actually cheating, but rather a side effect of the server-client system.

[–]SaidOverRed 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Warcraft III (not the reforged/refunded version) had something similar and that was super old school small bandwidth: all user actions were recorded and available for playback. It's pretty easy to see most all cheaters that way.

[–]C3P0 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Right. It sounds so simple to ban the cheaters, but in reality the AAA game developers struggle. Those RTS games are rampant with cheaters. The FPS genre too.

[–]SaidOverRed 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yes, I am right. But you are too. The RTS's were rampant with cheaters, but that was not due to the cheaters being undetectable. Plenty were found and nothing was done. Don't fall into modern assumptions about responses to found cheaters.

Good luck on Android, where people can share apk files. On Apple, you have to jailbreak.

Ummm, RT is Russian propaganda right? Don't get your panties all twisted up over Putin's BS.
