Discord is ass. I can't believe you need a phone to register. FUCK YOU DISCORDDDDDDDDDDD

I didn't need a phone to register. Maybe it is getting worse. That's how things are. Don't like it? Write your own software.

I didn't even like discord in the first place

[–]fschmidt[S] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Neither do I. But where else can one go to spread a message? SaidIt is too small, and I am banned from all other popular platforms.

Try a real world social experiment

I totally agree about it. I like discord. I have my blog and I used an elementor compatible themes. Hope you will love it.

I used to host a fully encrypted Teamspeak server. That was free speech. But after about 10 years of it, I shut it down because nobody wants to have free speech, they prefer nice looking buttons.

Discord bans groups for wrongthink and reads private messages. "Relatively free speech" is a stupid concept, it either is or isn't free. Use Telegram instead.

Telegram, signal, whatsapp, snapchat, facebook messenger, it's all the same.

A super-cool super-secret super-secure messaging platform run by super-cool secret hackers! And totally safe! Now come and post all your secrets little zoomers....

Then throw all of your electronics in the trash and use nothing, ever. You won't.

Personally I'm in the boat that I'll say whatever I want anywhere and if some government agency wants to come get me for it, they can come. I'm sure I'm on all the lists, I don't care.

The only relative point is that telegram doesn't outright ban your groups from existing, whereas every other one listed will. That's it.

Gab is the worst website that I have seen, and Telegram is the worst app that I have used. Telegram is completely unusable.

i've literally heard nothing but bad things about censorship on discord

[–]JasonCarswell 6 insightful - 4 fun6 insightful - 3 fun7 insightful - 4 fun -  (6 children)

They banned me a couple years ago and I don't know why. I wouldn't trust Discord for shit.

Better to use Diaspora, NextCloud, and other decentralized options.

[–]fschmidt[S] 2 insightful - 3 fun2 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 3 fun -  (5 children)

Those other options don't have critical mass. Of course I also use Saidit which also doesn't really have free speech.

[–]JasonCarswell 2 insightful - 3 fun2 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 3 fun -  (4 children)

Those other options don't have critical mass.

So just give up?

We need to make our own way and support the alternatives and solutions - and lure the normies over.

As a free-thinking, truth-seeker, non-troll my benchmark is that sites who ban me are no longer legit for human consumption: Discord, Quora, Wikipedia, etc.

Whether you want the free speech or not, IMO it's in your best interest to at least get several fundamental decentralized alternative instances up and running so that we can all do the same and network them. Feel free to suggest any I've forgotten.

  • Diaspora
  • Lemmy
  • Mastodon
  • NextCloud (with video conferencing)
  • OAuth
  • PeerTube
  • YaCy
  • archiving
  • etc.

Also, if many of us mirror/backup the content/database, the network will be stronger, but we don't even need the many to be robust and strong so much as just helping. If only a few were the "flagships" with a strong VPS and good bandwidth as main portals then the rest of the support could be old PCs and laptops as indie-servers. You and our /s/Cassy team could lead portals for a wider network. Many of my Windsor friends are keen to help (ie. plug in indie-servers and maybe help moderate) but aren't techie server admin folks.

The fundamental problem isn't free speech, the fundamental problem is modern culture. Modern scum (members of modern culture) are incapable of writing good software. Of the alternatives that you listed that I am familiar with, all are crappy software. So my focus now is to promote "reactionary software" which means good software that rejects horrible modern programming. And I will promote it where there are at least users from other cultures: Muslims, Russians, whatever. We don't have that here on SaidIt. I also suggest that you check out /c/ParallelSociety.

[–]JasonCarswell 2 insightful - 3 fun2 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

the fundamental problem is modern culture.

In so many ways.

incapable of writing good software.

You go to war with the army you have, not the army you wish you had.

all are crappy software.

That seems like a lame excuse and cop out. If it's so obvious what makes good software, why aren't more folks doing it?

Further, until decentralized software improve and networks are formed we are exceptionally vulnerable. We still have time, but they aren't stopping and we must not either. Even if we must compromise and settle. Don't make perfect the enemy of good.

So my focus now is to promote "reactionary software" which means good software that rejects horrible modern programming.

What does this even mean? Is there a book on "good" programming that you endorse? Or would you write one? Expecting the world to conform to your needs via telepathy is wishful thinking. Be the change and lead by example. Get on those open-source boards and shout about what irks you until they change their ways. If you're correct they will follow your lead.

And I will promote it where there are at least users from other cultures:

Why does this even matter? Do your best in your own language and culture and if it's noteworthy then it will be translated and shared. At the moment English still dominates, and maybe, just maybe, we can do something to resist the globalist tyranny or at least be examples and lead the way.

I also suggest that you check out /c/ParallelSociety.

Will do. Already trying to make that happen.

[–]fschmidt[S] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

You go to war with the army you have, not the army you wish you had.

I tried with FreedIt. I tried to get someone to work with the SaidIt code. But this code is just too complicated and they gave up. So the point is that one good programmer writing reactionary code is about as productive as 100 programmers working with modern code. And I have more chance to get 1 good programmer than 100 modern scum programmers.

If it's so obvious what makes good software, why aren't more folks doing it?

Because modern scum hate everything that is good.

So my focus now is to promote "reactionary software" which means good software that rejects horrible modern programming.

What does this even mean?

One can't explain sight to the blind. Any programmer with good values knows exactly what I mean. I think if you spent a year programming, you would know exactly what I mean too.

Be the change and lead by example. Get on those open-source boards and shout about what irks you until they change their ways. If you're correct they will follow your lead.

Luan is an example, and I will lead. I bought the domain "reactionary.software" and I started a Discord channel. Once I have a website with reasonable content, I will work to market it. But certainly not by crawling into the sewer with modern scum programmers.

And I will promote it where there are at least users from other cultures:

Why does this even matter?

I know from experience that this matters. My 2 technical employees are both Russian. I advertised for these jobs internationally. Everyone from the West was completely worthless. I also know a competent tech guy from my local mosque. Today's West is like Sodom and Gomorrah, all worthless scum deserving extermination.

[–]JasonCarswell 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I tried with FreedIt.

Why not just use SaidIt code as is? What are the modifications you want/need? Are you giving up on it?

And I have more chance to get 1 good programmer than 100 modern scum programmers.

What's the difference between 100 modern scum programmers and 100 modern scum asstrolls with free speech? Why support the later and not the former?

Because modern scum hate everything that is good.

Unclear, vague, arbitrary, and subjective nonsense.

One can't explain sight to the blind.

Actually, you can. Quite easily. You just won't.

Any programmer with good values knows exactly what I mean.

Bullshit. "Good values" can mean anything.

I think if you spent a year programming, you would know exactly what I mean too.

Maybe.

Luan is an example, and I will lead.

Start /s/Luan and keep us informed.

What do you think of the /u/zyxzevn recommended programming language that d3rr also appreciated at first glance?

I bought the domain "reactionary.software" and I started a Discord channel. Once I have a website with reasonable content, I will work to market it. But certainly not by crawling into the sewer with modern scum programmers.

Sounds like you're doing it the hard way. It may be worth it. Maybe not. I wish you luck. I wish you'd support decentralized alternatives and solutions more - especially if they were broad application social media platforms including market places and crypto like:

Today's West is like Sodom and Gomorrah, all worthless scum deserving extermination.

"Deserving" can mean anything.

How do you browse discord?
