I went to Tyler hoping that it would be like Coeur d'Alene in north Idaho was before it was invaded by Californians. Both are small cities in very conservative areas. One key requirement is a decent supermarket. The most promising place in Tyler was FRESH by Brookshire's. From the pictures, it looks high end. But in fact the food is crap. This is an example of putting lipstick on a pig. And in fact there are no decent food stores in Tyler. So why do the people there consider a pig with lipstick to be a beauty queen? Because they are too stupid to tell the difference. The population is basically dumb white trash.
Compare to Pilgrim's Market in Coeur d'Alene. Pilgrim's Market has great food. It is a worker cooperative, not a corporate scam. So what exactly is the difference between Coeur d'Alene and Tyler? My guess is about 20 IQ points. The morons in Tyler could never make a worker cooperative work.
Places have changed over the last few years. Coeur d'Alene has been ruined by Californians. I visited Dallas on this trip and it is much worse than I remember. The city was always horrible but at least it had good food. Not so much now. The best food I had on this trip was at a taco stand in the middle of the desert on the way back to El Paso. My next trip will be back to the area west of Harrisburg, PA. The people there were reasonably intelligent when I was there last, there are Mennonites in the area, and the area is conservative.
