Was it going on in, say, 1994? In what year did humanity actually start exchanging video files of full length movies and TV shows over the Internet (not just 10 second clips!)? I remember watching RealVideo clips on e.g. official news websites in 1999 that had shit quality and were not much bigger than a postage stamp. If you pressed the full-screen button, the resolution would make you want to puke. But I've a feeling the technically astute were probably watching downloaded movies way way WAY before that, and in much higher quality too.
